Hey Shane,
Playing it with Calibrated MXF import,
Did some search, seems that their is a long history of this problem and no known solutions.

Sorry Shane… always the details….
It tries to load. You click on FCP (dock or applications), FCP starts to load and then disappears.

Sorry Dave, I thought that I had all the details.
We are shooting HPX500s-P2 @ 720PN24..
720PN24 is supposed to be the most data conservative setting right.
The MXF files show up in the info panel as Quicktime DVCPRO HD 720p60.
I do have Calibrated software that rewraps the MXF files as quicktimes..

Yep, that is what I thought … just that simple… Maybe I have the setting wrong on my AJA Kona LHi card.
It does not want to down convert the 720-24Pn mxf footage in the FCP7 timeline.
It plays out SD and HD downconverted just fine using the AJA TV player. (No SD FCP projects handy to test)
Does this all have to be pre-down converted using a FCP render or compressor?

Thanks Peter for your reply.
I have had odd Boris problems off and on for a couple years.
I would love to find the problem.
Will email tech support

Steve,
Thanks for the reply. I found this answer from Jerry Hoofman in the Cow archives.
And no luck at all with just deleting the FCP Studio System ID. After two more total reloads I got brave and deleted the Pro Apps system ID from the same folder and oh my it worked as advertised and let me enter a new serial number. It is the Pro Apps System ID delete that did the trick. We should update the archives on this nasty Sunday afternoon time burner.
Thanks for being there with a reply.

Bite the bullet and buy a copy of the latest FCP7. I got mine from Apple Business 1-800 Sales. They are the only Apple that sells FCP7 The other departments have never heard of it, ( cause it is not on their screens.)
It took me two days to find them… good luck… This guy knows FCP7

Steve thanks for the reply. WE are close to understanding this process.
Our goal is to have the individual video clips with our special name (1,2,3,) show up in the finder window once transferred to an external Hard drive not the camera generated name. Are we asking for to much or is this possible?
Were is there an English step by step cheat sheet on how to do this. We have Barry’s book.

October 15, 2011 at 1:47 am in reply to: 20TB eSATA disk array, flexible, cheap, expandable – But will it work? How much GB’s do you need on line at a time? You can buy huge servers but do you need one.. Get a esata board for your computer and just use a esata Hard drive docking station. I have 8 of them and all but one is a dual docking station. Just label your bare hard drives so you can keep track of the details..
Old client comes over, you need old data, go to file cabinet pull out client archive bare esata drive and plug in. Use 2 x 2GB esata hard drive and you have 4GB per docking station.

Yes, the iPad is the golden ring for playing video. And the cloud services like Vimeo the perfect delivery vehicle. I do not use tape at all anymore. My corporate/government clients are throttled by outdated equipment. They still want something on their desk, not desk top. My clients do not have a download and archive mindset. Their shelves and traditional filing patterns involve physical media.
Is it possible if HD-DVD is dead and a cheap BluRay player will play back avcHD, that avcHD could replace the SD-dvd with HD on the same 1dollar blank. Or maybe I am mixed up with the acronyms, is avcHD the same as mpeg2-HD? Is avcHD the same as mpeg4 / H264.
I am just searching for an affordable mass duplicated video media that I can put on the clients desk. USB Flash drives are the trendy best, but you can not plug them into everything, yet. BluRay blanks 4 or 5 times more than regular DVD blanks. And you can not repurpose the dvd, as with the flash drive. So the dvd still wins. Is anyone successfully putting HD video (AVC_HD) on dvds. Success in terms of client playback.
