ah, that makes sense. simple == good.

i don’t think i’d even have to do any re-importing… i can just do my motion graphics at 23.976, then when it’s exported add pulldown and she’s done.

    cheers!

    Hey Dave,

Definitely am interested in quality results, that’s why I’m doing some research 🙂

I have one more clarification/question – the 23.976 footage that I’m working with has to have motion graphics done to it (ie. the footage spins, scales, etc) after it’s brought inside the 29.97 comp.

Should I still add pulldown and upper field first, converting the 23.976 to 29.97 before working with it in the 29.97 comp? I’m worried that if I add pulldown, and then move/rotate/scale that footage around, the fields will be at odd angles and look jumbled in the end. Does that make sense?

    Thanks for the help!

I’ve got a similar issue going on, where I have 23.976 footage to work with, and my delivery format is 29.97.

When I simply drag my 23.976 footage into my 29.97 comp, it seems to play at the right speed, look just fine and renders well at 29.97.

What’s going on here? Is After Effects doing some conversion on the fly? Is there any reason NOT to use this most simple of “techniques”?

    Cheers!
