Not sure what that could be but if your seeing it on store bought DVD’s then i’d start with your cables?? Maybe you have bad cable(s). Maybe your cables are not shielded and are near power cables.. I dont know but theres a start…

March 29, 2007 at 7:34 pm in reply to: Can we capture uncompressed 8bits sdi or componet with internal hard drives?Does the internal hard drives will support 8bits uncompressed? On a mac pro yes you can use the internal hard drives I would suggest to make a raid with them and create some redundancy. You’ll have to calculate your needed disk space of course!
Do we need internal SATA drives? Yes you have 3 internal drive bays… they are SATA
Does it also work with external Lacie fw800? we have 2 of them. I would never use Lacie drives for working on.. I’ve have nothing but bad experiences with them when working from them… They are great for storing data and shipping data but personally I wouldnt use them to work from… yer askin fer it there buddy!

ok well now that i’ve been thru 2 film out tests… The film house uses the term points regarding (i’m assuming) Fstops, is that an increment of a stop and if so how much or little is a point? I rendered out Linear Quicktime files this time but would like to use Cineon next time… How do I go about using a LUT? Also monitor calibration… how does one set up monitors for previewing Cineon files using LUT? Am I saying all this in the correct context?

So tru as I asked the guys at Fotokem to help me on this and the guy I was talking to said he had never done a filmout from a mac w/FCP! So guys I guess i’ll make all the mistakes and try to fumble forwards with grace.
I am using FCP with a Kona 3 on a Mac Pro with 6gigs ram and my raid.. its a 4GigFibre from infortrend (was difficult to configure btw) but works flawlessly once set. I just bought some seats of fibrejet san software from commandsoft and (MAC HOLLYWOOD) shout-out to the guys there! and my plug-ins as of right now for color would be CGM.
I’m not sure if when using the AJA codec for 2048×1556 RGB 10Bit that there is enough colorspace but I looked at a film test I did yesterday (projected) and it looked ok … just ok granted this is an indy film project. The prior test looked milky but I made adjustments for the later test.

AJA’s Kona LHE if you’re on a new Mac Pro… Its the greatest! Plus you have options for HD/SDI/Analogue composite and component… etc.. and deck control!

Irony has it that someone is selling a version in the post below this one. Your application should still be in the applications directory try to use spotlight to find it.

Hey thats a great idea… and much needed! I’d be willing to pay for something like that! Also, one that re-configures my system to do different type projects i.e. set-ups to also change my Kona Control settings along with FCP settings for film/DV/Standard def/HiDef etc…

So maybe no one is doing film projects using digital intermediate files (2K DPX/Cineon) on FCP here?

The Panasonic BT-LH2600W is working great for me… most projects are broadcast @ NTSC spec even if they originated in HD… so I was looking for a switchable NTSC/HD scope… eventho the Panny monitor has a waveform monitor built in.

20 years experience? Here in the states you should be making at least $200,000 a year or more if you are in a market that would push your talents and it sounds like you are. I would also negotiate overtime.. so salary up to whatever fulltime hours are in your country and then after 8 hours in a day overtime. Also we have NAB and other conventions that i’m sure they have overthere. I would negotiate some flight tix and passes to your fav events!
