Thanks for the replies. I probably didn’t explain that too well. I have no problem archiving the project so that I can access it again, or with making a QT master file, but is there a way of ensuring that someone else, using say fcp or avid can open the project up and continue editing it, with access to all the various bins, timelines etc?
I was thinking of including an xml of the various timelines for instance. Or perhaps they would need to get trial version of M100, open it in that, and then export it to their system.
I have vague memories of Floh doing a tutorial about moving projects between M100 and FCP at some time, but I may be imagining it.

Keep paying those sources of yours Michael. They are working.

Paul, sorry about the delay. I’m on 1.7.1.
Here’s what I do. Export the program to XML and save to the desktop. Drop the file into FCP. Open the timeline. Export using ‘audio to OMF command’. Here you can choose export settings including the length of handle you want. Hope that helps.

Hi Paul, I used OMF exchange for many years but found when I moved into HD a few years back that it no longer worked. It was always a bit on the flaky side. Not sure if it’s even available anymore. I now export the program to FCP and export the omf from there. Works well.

Thanks Floh, I really appreciate your help. But just to clarify, Do you mean that if the folder structure was copied as it should have been, then M100 could have converted and imported the footage, using AVC Intra import, without the addition of a third party program like calibrated software?

Thanks for the replies. I tested the Calibrated demo software and it works well. I also tried using FCP but it appears there is a problem with the file structure on the drive I have. FCP doesn’t see the clips. Looks like they didn’t copy the whole contents folder. Any idea if I could get the missing txt files sent to me, and I can add them?
By the way, when I did use the calibrated software to import into M100 as Prores QT’s, the import P2 and import AVC Intra functions didn’t work. (Possibly because of the file structure problem), but they imported fine with the import files function. So I’m wondering if the import AVC Intra function designed to work with the calibrated software in the same way that import AVCHD works with clipwrap?

    Thanks Floh,
will take your advice. I have enough variables here without adding another one.

July 13, 2011 at 9:57 pm in reply to: OMF export to Pro Tools

Hi Floh, the two projects I’m working on originated on a tapeless HDXD camera, and were imported via the sony transfer tool. Neither projects audio will export to omf. Older disc based SDXD projects will export. I don’t see why it would make a difference, but I’ve tried pasting a few of the newer audio clips to an SD timeline, and they won’t export fro there either. The omf tool opens briefly, for about a second, then closes. I have occasionally struck problems before, and have managed to get around it by isolating the track with the problem, and moving the clips elsewhere. Like I say, it’s pretty buggy. I’ve since worked out I can export an XML to FCP and export an omf from there. But it’s pretty annoying that I have to use another product to perform such a basic function. Thanks for taking time to help.

Thanks Paul, I did try several CD’s but hadn’t tried copying to the desktop.
This way it imports in a flash, so thanks. Still not sure why it won’t work directly though.
