Thanks for the input. Do you have any reccommendations for what dimmensions these files should be. I’m working in PAL format, but all images are either being scaled or cropped to match Letterbox film. The project is 90% stills/10 35mm film transfrred to 4:3 Letterbox.

Ironically- there is no flicker on the larger images wich have been scaled w/ various speeds of zoom. The problem seems to be on images with either hard cuts / or dissolves. It’s like the computer needs an extra second of flicker to think & then once it registers something the image goes sharp & no flickering. Very strange. I’ll try the .2 Gaussian blur but the producer is the still photographer & very concerned about the image appearing non-sharp. Any idea what looks worse on the big screen – a flicker or a .2 Gaussian blur? This will be played at a big screen theatre via Digi Beta / DVD through a projector.

    Thanks

Hi Brian- I’m working on FCP 4.5. This is what I did. Not sure if it’s different in FCP 5.
I went into audio / video setting
    Go to Capture presets
I’m working in DV PAL, spo I clicked on that & then hit Duplicate key
In next window in Quicktime Audio Settings / advanced box lower left hand corner.
Next box you will see option for speaker On/Off

    Hope this helps.

I’m also figuring out Photoshop imports. What settings are best when you are outputting in DV PAL. I read the links to previous post about the Apple settings & NTSC, but all of the info was for designed for NTSC. Any suggestions for PAL both $;# & 16:9?
    Thanks

Thanks. All audio is 48KhZ import & timeline. I’ll try lowering the dBs. Thanks for your help.

    Thanks Jerry
Can you walk me thru how to select the LaCie for everything but the Autosaves, Waveform Caches, and Thumbnail files. Put those on your startup disk. Also run your project file from your documents folder on the startup disk, and in the end, just copy it to the LaCie for transfer to the post house.

    Thanks

Thanks for all insight. I’m new to both Fianl Cut Pro (usually work on Discreet Logic systems), so please bear with me.

This will be projected on a Canon Multi Media Projector LV-7555 / I beleive its SD

The playback media is a computer Hard Drive.

The project itself is a combination of DV Pal, the 35 mm stills.
    Thanks a ton.
