I guess we are beat anyhow as our Power PC Dually is not esata
compliant anyhow; and they do not sell dual channel esat controllers
    for the power PC.

When was the last time you erased the unit?

When was the last time you ran Disc Warrior on it?

How large is the array? how much media do you have on it?

The data loss occurred on May 14th, 2008.

When I was in finder a 50G directory became a 50M directory in front of my eyes.
The drive then didn’t mount, then I repaired permissions this didn’t work so then I
ran disc warrior on it the same day. Naturally all the data (we needed was gone).

From talking to our vendor and Ciprico it is a mystery problem.

The array is 1.2 TB Huge System.

Since is was a mystery data loss (the drives were erased last July 2007)
our vendor suggested we switch to a new esata drive “solution”

What I was asking if if esata can keep up with uncompressed HD in a RAID.

I have heard SCSI is on the way out!

    Thanks

  • This morning I removed the aja io drivers for 3.0
    (recommended for Tiger on aja.com)

I started up the chain with v 1.2 driver
then I tried 1.31 and it works nicely
and the FCP sees all of the io settings both input
    and output

Next step is I am running both HD (Kona 2 test)
and SD (aja io) looping the playback and letting it
    play for half an hour.

    So far so good!

[JeremyG] “Yeah 4.5 and Tiger does work, it’s just not the recommended setup. At they very least, I’d get rid of 7.2”

  • Oddly enough, I HAD the Aja IO working
with FCP 4.5 AND Tiger after the recent
OS upgrade from Panther to Tiger with an
older version of the Aja drivers; but I
must had gotten lucky on the first time.

I am going to rtry some even older versions
than 2.1, to see if this will work.

And the weird thing is at the present state
of non-workingness is that that FCP sees some
of the io for capture I believe; but not for
    playback of audio or video.

I have until end of business day to get this
fixed or my boss will call in the FCP experts
in Michigan to come across the border to
    help!

Hoping I can get it going Monday September 10th!

    Thanks for your help

  • Is it possible to roll back the QT to the 6 version on
    Apple OSX 10.4.10?

    Thanks

  • I should also add that Tiger is the latest
and Final Cut Pro is 4.5HD
    and quicktime is 7.2

If you update your OS to 10.4.10, FCP 4.5 will work.

SHOULD work. People reported success in doing this.

    Here’s the 20 cent question.

The reason we have to upgrade is that the repaired drives were
striped with OSX 10.4x (don’t know the version Ciprico used but
    could ask).

Anyhow if the upgrade is 10.4.10 and this allows FCP, would it
still allow the finder to see the striped drives
(at present the OSX 10.3.9 sees the drives in the Huge 320
array as there; but no stripe info)

I have come from a PC background so the way Apple upgrades the
OS seems different to me; so bear with my newbie questions!

    Thanks in advance

Bottom line is I have to quit Motion, untill Motion will then see the file.
The targa in question was 100% PC and Mac Readable; it was a question of the
    import window reading it.

    The timesteps:
    Loaded Motion and added text
Then loaded Max and created backrib.tga
Finder found the file, so did Viewer
Motion File Import Window did not…
