Hi –
Per say Motion Effects aren’t slowing things down for me. That said it IS possible to create Motion Effects which DO slow the system down. Especially when it comes to Titles. Titles are great in FCPx but they are also performance killers.
I would write the support of the people from whom I purchased the Motion Templates and ask them for advice.
Again, a Motion Effect in FCPx is NOT just a plug-in it is a complete workflow. And if that particular workflow is grand then your performance WILL suffer 🙂

IMO Catalina is not an OS on which I would base my daily video workflow. I am being forced to use it with my new MBP 16 inch as Mojave won’t install there.
Catalina reminds me of a beta version which isn’t yet ready for public video/photo/audio use. Albeit we’re at 10.15.3.
If one is merely replying on apple application and in-house plugs then Catalina may be fine but if you rely on third party code then you’re in trouble unless you enter this command in to your terminal.
sudo spctl –master-disable
This will enable you to install and use third party applications and plugs which aren’t released on the App Store. Like Waves etc.
After doing that I am able to use most 3rd pty stuff – aside from the stuff which was 32 bit only like speed grade (I sure wish adobe would update it).
In general Catalina drains my MBP Battery faster than any other macOS I have ever had and the fans are spinning constantly which they were not doing on Mojave. Latter is IMO a much better OS for video editing than Catalina. But for those who have no choice due to new Mac hardware, Catalina is the only option.

March 11, 2020 at 9:20 am in reply to: Best way to backup 3 hard drives to 1 hard drive? You could use an app like carbon copy cloner and set up a simple rule which will automatically backup and clone those three drives to any destination you choose.
I have 6 drives each 1 TB SSD which are, daily, being backed up to one big spinning disk drive like this. All automated with CCC.

No, but it looks nice.
After FCPx switched to libraries I have found backing up projects and files to be as easy as 123. I use Carbon Copy Cloner with a rule that does it all automatically !

Just an idea.
Perhaps FCPx is displaying the footage correct and the ‘other ones’ are wrong ?

I dont know of any pane in FCPx which displays this information.
Perhaps it would be quicker to just google the camera and check its pixel recording aspect ratio.Pro Color Monitor – Get Your Color Balance Right

glad it worked. It is because you were compressing before limiting. The compressor most likely compressed the signal to a max -6db. The limiter never came to work 😉

I just ordered 😉
