I had not thought of just using FireWire 400 instead of 800. Originally, I needed the speed when I was doing uncompressed 10-bit at 26-28 MBs/sec. For the past year however, I have been using an 8-bit DVCPRO codec that is 7 MBs/sec, so I can probably get away with using the drives at FireWire 400.

You are correct, I have acquired a few TBs over the past year and it’s probably time to consider a better permanent solution. Permanent in today’s world, meaning a few years.

I finally figured this one out-I actually had to call someone in to help me. I was wrong before-one of my files was corrupt-well… one of my audio files was the problem- a music (aif) file. When I replaced the audio file by re-importing the track it would work fine-however, when I copied the old attributes from the old clip (no filters, just edit/level markers) to the new clip, the new clip when then stop at the same spot and come up with the “General Error 39”. Very strange-somehow the information added to the new clip created the error. So, I just re-edited the clip and everything was fine.

I have come across other odd things recently and think I might need a drive overhaul.
