I get the same “General Error 39” message at the exact spot on the timeline. This is the timeline of a video I finished a couple of months ago and as always played fine. I can’t find an corrupt files. I can’t even make a qt movie because I’ll recieve the same error message.

I trashed my FCP preferences and nothing happened. The only change I have made is updating to the new qt player.

    Thanks.

I had the error as well when I applied the audio filter AUGraphicEQ to an audio clip in the timeline. I am using FCP 4.5. I got rid of the error message by removing the audio filter from the clip. No idea why this happened. It also wouldn’t allow me to render this audio clip after i had made changes to the filter’s settings.

    I hope this helps.

I get the same Error only on the G5 (D2G) mac but not on my G4 (D500). Both run FCP 4.5 and 10.3.9 and QT 6.5.2.

I finally figured this one out-I actually had to call someone in to help me. I was wrong before-one of my files was corrupt-well… one of my audio files was the problem- a music (aif) file. When I replaced the audio file by re-importing the track it would work fine-however, when I copied the old attributes from the old clip (no filters, just edit/level markers) to the new clip, the new clip when then stop at the same spot and come up with the “General Error 39”. Very strange-somehow the information added to the new clip created the error. So, I just re-edited the clip and everything was fine.

I have come across other odd things recently and think I might need a drive overhaul.
