In respond to Dave’s reply I just came to think about an ol’ thread on this forum regarding “what plugin can make this effect”. It was about a new plugin called Baxter, where Baxter was the assistant who did all the work. The guy who came up with the idea with “Baxter” was Jim Tierney (if I recall correctly, and I hope I don’t offend anyone)… He (Jim Tierney) would come in to office grab a cup of coffee and call Baxter (the assistant) to do the creative work. So “Baxter” is a great plugin – He do all the work for you. The guy who would develop that kind of plugin would of course be no other than Peder Norrby of Trapcode.:-)

[TonyTony] “Don’t use self contained if you are on the same machine as the footage from FC. You are adding unnecessary time, disc space and re-encoding artifacts to a clip the can just be referenced to the original.”

Nor only do you re-encoding artifacts, but you re-compress your footage every time you render it.
Take a look at this excellent article regarding moving footage between different apps like AE and FCP.

I also highly recommend this book along with the book from Mark Christansen.

I had a similar problem on a new Windows system going from SCSI disks to SATA disks. Don’t know if that might be the case for you, but going back to SCSI solved it for me. Seems to me that your problem is hardware related. Incompability between different hardware maybe? Graphics card, RAM or harddrives.
Do you experience the same kind of problem with other apps that require rendering?

When you scale it up do it with – layer, transform, and fit to comp width. For the artifacts you could try the remove grain only on the blue channel. Or duplicate your footage and use the median effect with a low value on your top footage, and remove grain with the same settings on your second layer. Try the saturation blend mode (or others) on your top footage.
There are also other methods – and plugins, but they tend to cost “a leg and an arm”. If you have no budget limits, take a look at Algolith plugins – wich is specially designed to remove MPEG noise amongst others.

The effects you are looking for is called the “Ken Burns” effect. The term comes from a movie called “The kid stay in the picture”. Do a google search on the terms, or the “3D picture trick”.

Select all of your camera keyframes and copy them. Open up notepad (windows) or another text editor and paste your keyframes here.
I think you could also paste them in to MS Excel, but haven’t tried that. There might be some tweaking to get the camera data to work in XSI. Never tried XSI though. But it works for other applications like particle illusion.

Stick with MAC and do a “google” on Intel/Mac, MAC On intel or Intel on MAC etc.. etc.. You will find that it is possible to run windows on your MAC. Having that said.. both will do the work for you depending on what you are looking for.. Take a look at this blog https://blogs.adobe.com/skilisky/
