[John Rofrano] “We (VASST) realized that if you only need one of these tools, it’s kind hard to justify buying the whole suite so we came up with our FASST Apps. These are the same functions found in Ultimate S Pro for $9.95 each. This way if you only need Marker Tools, or Edit Tools, or Lower Thirds, you can buy them separately and only pay for what you need. You should check those out.”
Hi John!
I have bought the Ultimate S, and really apreciate it! I use it for: remove gaps, adjust transitions, fades, remove/create markers, split audio stereo, calculate DVD Bitrate, and have used too to create some photo montages, but this last is not common for me.
Obviously I did not use many of the features and I lacked knowledge when purchasing full Ultimate S instead of FASST APPs options. The only two functions that I don´t find in Ultimate S and would use in Vegasaur would be:
1. Place tape name in multiple files (for after syncronize using timecode in Canon 6D putting all the files at the same track)
2. Place the events synchronized with the recording date (because I have cameras that do not have timecode – T2i and T5i)
Does VASST have any FASST APP that has these two functions? If don´t, should you create this?Another thing that would be very usefull for me is a button: “Select all muted events on this track”.

March 11, 2015 at 7:15 pm in reply to: Multicam layout tracks by timecode gives 140 tracksYes! All three cameras I use are in 48.000 and the two audio recorders (zoom H6 and h1) in 48.000 too.
The two audio recorders are synchronized with each other
The three cameras do not synchronize with each other or with the recorders.Márcio Nascimento

March 11, 2015 at 6:19 pm in reply to: Multicam layout tracks by timecode gives 140 tracks[john lenihan] “I end up using waveform sync by visual inspection.”
the method I am using to synchronize is putting the events close to where they should be but not exactly in place in relation to zoom audio. I’m also having to do a visual fine-tuning to synchronize. The 6D events are correct in timeline considering:
1. the “Timecode In” of event
and
2. the ruler configuration that is “SMPTE Film Sync IVTC (23,976fps Video)”,But instead audio of events doesn’t match with ZOOM’s audio time.
I reseted the timecode in Canon at the same time I pressed REC in ZOOM, so the 6D timecode and zoom counter time should be the same, no?
Even doing this it doesn’t synced the events. Is it normal or what am I missing out??The problem appears to be caused by differents sample rates between the recorder and the camera, but if that was the cause, all audio would be delayed or all audio would be early. But instead, randomly some audios are late and some early.

March 4, 2015 at 4:38 pm in reply to: Multicam layout tracks by timecode gives 140 tracksYep John, ZOOM do not has timecode.
I selected free run in Canon 6D and I pressed reset at the same time of REC in ZOOM.
But I think the problem isn´t in canon or vegas… maybe in zoom, I don´t know.
The clips are not synced themselves in the same channel compared with zoom’s audio clip
They are in the right timecode position. (Timecode In) but some clips are late and other early than zoom audio.
See the picture of my timeline…. The green (V) is synced. The red arrows show the direction that I should move the event to correct the sync.Márcio Nascimento

March 3, 2015 at 5:44 pm in reply to: Multicam layout tracks by timecode gives 140 tracksYeah, I saw – I downloaded the tryout to verify.
I already have the Vasst Ultimate S. Unfortunately it doesn’t have this sync features.I´m finding some troubles in sync.
I tried the script mentioned by Mike Kujbida, Lay Out Tracks Using Media Timecode from Vegas and Vegasaur.
None of the three suggested options could synchronize cameras or even video clips with audio clips
I have in timeline an audio media recorded by ZOOM H6, 48.000Khz, 16 bits, WAV.
does vegas shouldn’t sync both media files?Márcio Nascimento

March 2, 2015 at 4:42 pm in reply to: Multicam layout tracks by timecode gives 140 tracksOh… how gorgeous is this information…
I have here 376 clips recorded in Canon 6D with timecode setting synced my sound recorder, and when I added the clips using the “Lay Out Tracks…” command, Vegas has created 752 tracks!!! (video+audio)
So, Your information about the Tape Name is much precious for me. Thank You.Now, another question: Have some way for rename Tape Name in all clips at same time? Or am I obligated to paste the name in each clip?

February 25, 2015 at 7:54 pm in reply to: What deinterlace method for progressive from the beggining to the end.Thank you John, this is exactly the answer I was looking for.
So, if I use progressive source (Canon 6d) and interlaced source (Sony NX5) in the same project (1080 60i), what should I choose in project properties and in reduce interlace flicker of interlaced media?
Today, to obtain a best quality in this case, first I render to mp4 30p, and later I render this mp4 to a mpeg2 for dvd.
If I don’t do that (I mean, if I render direct to mpeg2), I can see in the final mpeg2: lines in interlace source and a ghost effect in the progressive source.Márcio Nascimento

February 23, 2013 at 6:16 pm in reply to: Reduce interlace flicker when progressive to interlaced ?Thanks John,
But the way I “won the fight” with Vegas and Architect was changing all to Upperfield and turning on the Reduce interlace flicker of all video events.
My configuration now is:
Event Properties: Reduce interlace flicker | Upper Field
Project Properties: Upper Field
Render Settings: Upper Field
Architect Properties: 29,97 interlacedI think it is one more big mistery in video editing, isn´t it?
