I’m also very disappointed in the delay. I used to use Invigorator all the time with CS-4. However, I was fortunate to get a new MacPro Intel tower over the summer, and all I have now is After Effects CS-5. I edit for a pro hockey team, and it now looks like I’ll loose the entire season waiting for the Zaxwerks update. I understand a few months, but this is pushing a year!!

That helps a lot. The ProRes file is 2.88GB, and using these settings I get 2.11gb. Almost the same as ProRes.

Sorry that I left that out. I guess that was rather important. And, you’re right- I’m not used to the big numbers.

I tried the Photo-JPEG codec in Quicktime. It definitely looks like the best quality, but it also is uncompressed. The ProRes version of the file I’m uploaded came out at 2.3gb, and the photo-JPEG was 6.5gb. That would be okay, but I’m putting it up on an ftp site and it would make for a long download.

I appreciate the info on ProRes. That’s definitely the way I want to go. I also tried converting the file into an mp4 in Compressor, and it came out at 984mb. I’ll give the recipient either the option of either ProRes or mp4.

I’ve used this website: https://www.mapresources.com/ They have vector maps of just about anywhere. The maps are very detailed, but if you have Adobe Illustrator, you can turn off the layers you don’t need to simplify them. They are vector maps, so you need Photoshop or something similar to rasterize them for FCP.

Probably so. The ends of the ribs are connected to the fabric shell by only a few stitches of thread. It doesn’t seem to take long for the thread to let go.

I don’t think a stitcher can repair the broken rib inside the unit, however. Still, I don’t want to have to buy a light unit and then find someone to repair it. I’m looking for one that won’t need repair.

I used a Chimera in my previous job, and I was happy with it. It did take longer to set up with the speed ring, but it never fell apart. I’m not happy with the way the Rifa’s seem to come apart.

We work in XDCAM. When I know I’m going to end up in Flash, I set up my sequence as ProRes 422, and edit in ProRes. Then, I export a Quicktime, ProRes movie. Finally, convert the ProRes movie to Flash. It will take a little while, but should be faster than doing it all at once.

Thanks for your help. I’ve tried looking every which way for the missing templates, but no luck. I’m very confused. I think we’ll be upgrading to FCS3 next week, so I’ll just repoint the programs to the proper folders while upgrading. I’ll see if that solves my problem.

I like the idea of the server gnome. I think ours is on frequent smoke breaks. I’m confused because my Motion program is saving the templates somewhere. I can open them in both Motion and FCP Master Templates. Yet, if I search the volumes or use spotlight, I can’t find them anywhere. It’s saving them in a very mysterious spot.
