I’m still very new to After Effects but it seems to me that you should be able to create keyframes of your music and use those keyframes to animate your blur or whatever you use to highlight the syllable in question. I could be way off the mark here. Like I said, I’m still very new at this.

Thanks, I’ll give it a shot later today. And you are correct, we need to use mpeg, wmv, or mov files. Mostly for space and bandwidth considerations. Just couldn’t find how to change the settings in Avid.

These are videos that are watched over IPTV. Basically a dedicated web streaming appliance from Cisco.
