Thanks for all your comments and will do so. I have now all the master media (XMF files) on a disk which I do not touch and another disk holds the quicktime files where we do the edit from.

I started first to make a new timeline in fcp for those mxf files which missed audio and created an new file but it will be better to have each quicktime clip separate and give a name to that.

I managed to do projects over 300hrs of footage with P2 but never had this problem before. If you don’t do it properly at the start you loose a lot of time proofs this again.

thanks for all your comments and it looks that the 3rd parties win here. What is the difference if I direct import the video files into fcp, create a timeline and export it to a new masterclip with the same settings. It cost a lot of time that’s for ure but is there another reason not to do this. I am losing (or lost already) sound anyway and go for the clips without audio.

Through Mpeg streamclip is an option or through CS5 it works also but this takes a lot of extra time with so many clips (roughly 1500). If I could find a possibility to rebuild the structure so it can be imported that would be the best option.

Hi Neal,

I noticed this post as I have this problem as well. I have two people on a bycicle cyling in the south of Argentina in a remote area. They told me today that they had three shots with this problem. Stripes in green or red. They are already cycling for seven months through very rough terain, so this could be the reason. There could be something broken/shaken or just be wrong inside the cam but maybe you found out what your problem was.

They also have since the moment these stripes appeared problems with the WB. It constantly changes and takes a 10 minutes to get it right.

Hope you can help me out here with a sollution or something you discovered back then.

Hello all,

I have the same thing over here at the moment. I was already trying to divide my project over a few sub-categories as I noticed it constantly crashes. One project size is 218MB right now and that’s the one I am working in. Now I read these post I will try to make it smaller somehow.

I am filming for the last eight months. We have over 300hours of footage so we don’t film to much. It would be great for the editors to have excess to all the footage without opening many different projects. But it is taking a long time to open the project and if it crashes I have to restore many times.

So I’m gonna cut the big file in two projects.
