  • Interesting, I have a Canon XH G1 and Vista Ultimate 64bit and as far as I can remember I haven’t been able to get my camera to digitize footage to this OS, but it works excellent in Vista 32bit.

Any idea what might be the problem?

Also, what do you mean by putting the camera in the ‘proper mode’? Playback/VCR mode?

  • Well, I see your rotating it on one axis. That may be my problem. As I have some of my ‘faces’ tilted and slanted. Here, let me upload a picture for you to get an idea of what I’m talking about.

Well, I’ll be the judge for myself. I’m getting an expresscard eSata port soon and then I will determine how much of a difference it makes. If it makes a huge difference, I’ll love it. I love premiere but things like the long load times just make me want to go the way of Final Cut Pro.

  • I actually tried this expression but the opacity no matter what stays at 0? Any thought on why it might be like that?

  • Thank you for all your responses. I’ll try them out but based on the explanations I can’t see myself having too much trouble. I just wanted to know different and possibly more efficient ways to do things in After Effects.

So why is it the projects take so long to load as compared to Final Cut, that apparently can load multiple projects at a time?

Has this been narrowed down to anything in particular, even speculation perhaps?

Now I edit a lot of footage that ends up in the region of 3-4 hours worth of footage in the project file. Whenever I load up the project files it takes almost 5 minutes to load the project. Can this be attributed to the speed of the USB drive?

Hmmm, I haven’t used Esata to any extent since my laptop needs be checked out to use it.

And I agree, USB is no way to edit, its extremely slow and I noticed it as I use Premiere on a powerful machine yet have to wait as much as 6 minutes for a big project to load. Not cool.

Well, I already purchased this Esata drive so I should use it, even with the limitations you speak of. However, I will ensure when I purchase a new system (a desktop for editing), it will have the capability of using firewire ports for the hard drives.

But thank you for your response.

Has anyone help me on this issue?

  • Thanks again. I’ll try to place the audio on a different track.

I normally export using Nero Digital (not sure if this plugin is available for CS4, if it is, let me know, then I’ll consider upgrading) and I don’t notice the audio cut in the final render, so its not too bad there.

I was wondering if this problem was due to my hardware or memory limitations or something, good to hear that my computer is still good (bought it last August) but sad to hear that it hasn’t been fixed for CS3 yet. I hope adobe has not forgotten its CS3 Base.
