Who here captures Video in Premiere on Vista or Windows 7 x64 bit?
I just want to know since I have had trouble since the beginning of using vista x64 to capture video on it, it has made me have to dual boot Vista 32bit and use HDVSplit to capture video and thus add time to the project since the media has to conform and index.
Perhaps someone has successfully been able to capture video on vista x64 without complications and can offer me some insight on how they have done it.

Yes it works just fine for me. I shoot with one of the 3 Cannon XHA1s we have then connect to windows ultimate 64bit via fire wire with cam in proper mode first of course. Windows then runs its auto play which I close then open Premiere Pro CS4 hit F5 or File Capture and away we go…OR I can open On Location and hit play on cam and rec in software…Either way get the video in the box.

Interesting, I have a Canon XH G1 and Vista Ultimate 64bit and as far as I can remember I haven’t been able to get my camera to digitize footage to this OS, but it works excellent in Vista 32bit.
Any idea what might be the problem?
Also, what do you mean by putting the camera in the ‘proper mode’? Playback/VCR mode?

OK by cam in proper mode I mean if its HDV footage then make sure in vcr/play mode with the cable NOT connected you go into signal setup then go to playback std and do NOT use auto. Use HDV… and if its DV then use DV.. If it is HDV and you need DV then set is to HDV but turn HD down-conv on…otherwise leave it off. Then I power off the cam plug in cable then turn back to vcr/play… windows picks it right up..then open adobe. Works like a charm here.
Now there was someone else haveing issuse in the HDV forum and someone found an article in the Microsoft Knowledge base about windows vista not enumerating certian 1394 connections and there is a workaround by editing the registry. I never did this on my maching as it just works but I will find the message and post the link.

I have not had to do this but it might help you. As usual backup your registry before trying.

Also, just a little mistake that can cause random complications is setting the compatibility mode in Vista(right click on the program and go to properties). Set on Win XP. You may have already done this, but I didn’t set this until a few days after I upgraded to Vista x64 and it cause me a bunch of problems with video playback. Audio didn’t even play at all until I changed this.
I’m sure you already did this, just a friendly reminder.
