It seems after using Premiere Pro CS3 for a while, the sound drops for a few seconds and then comes back again, it never occurs in the same spot however.

    These are my specs

    Clevo M860TU (Laptop)
    2.5 GHZ Core 2 Duo
    4 GB DDR3 RAM
    USB 2.0 750GB 7,200 RPM Hard Drive
    9800m GT 512MB Video card.
    64bit Vista Ultimate.

What could be the issue with this?

This was an issue that seems to have been fixed in CS4 (trying to find wood), but I don’t think it was ever fixed in CS3 updates.

It would only happen in certain (long form) projects, and at random. Restarting will fix the problem for a while.

I also remember it only happened on a specific tracks, so try creating a new track and moving that issue track up/down.

Unfortunately, it may also appear in your rendered export, so make sure you listen to the final render carefully.

Again, not everyone experienced that issue, so it may be related to specific hardware.

Ultimately, I’m afraid an upgrade to CS4 may be the only solution…

Thanks again. I’ll try to place the audio on a different track.

I normally export using Nero Digital (not sure if this plugin is available for CS4, if it is, let me know, then I’ll consider upgrading) and I don’t notice the audio cut in the final render, so its not too bad there.

I was wondering if this problem was due to my hardware or memory limitations or something, good to hear that my computer is still good (bought it last August) but sad to hear that it hasn’t been fixed for CS3 yet. I hope adobe has not forgotten its CS3 Base.
