Yes, that figures.
10.2 also crashed only once in a while. So I don’t expect this to go away entirely. I just thought it was kinda funny: my first experience with 10.3.
Anyway, look forward to working with the audio lanes. To me the best improvement since FCPX allowed for more projects at once and a custom location for the Libraries.

Yes, I heard there was a lot room for attendance and exchange with just the presentation… NOT! People couldn’t even talk about what they’d been presented with…
They should have launched at NAB. Or better yet, at the IBC so they could have had some feedback on NAB. But I reckon Apple isn’t too keen on communicating with its professional users anymore.

“They made it work…” Well, what achievement… It worked once quite well in other NLE’s.
And I agree with Oliver, the functionality of opening them up not only makes it modal… it makes my screen way too small for functionality. And I have a 30 inch screen. With this kind of functionality I need two of them. And maybe even turned 90 degrees so I have more height.
Still, happy with the Audio Lanes! That sure makes the overview a lot better… or should I say: more like it once was in FCP7 and like it is in AVID and Premiere. Maybe what they came up with and what has worked well for so long wasn’t so bad after all.

I don’t know if this is a bug or what:
I opened a 10.2.2 library with music in it with assigned role MUSIC. In the update Library I opened a sequence, opened the audio lanes, but there was no music in the music lane. The rol had been changed to a subrole Music-1, a subrole for music. But for some reason it did not show in de Music Audio Lane but was part of the Dialogue Audio Lane. And the only way to get it into the Music Audio Lane was to change the role in the sequence per clip.
Is this a bug? And is it possible to change the roles of ALL music clips in one go? Because I found it impossible to do in the Index… it helps me spot them quickly, using the subrole… but to change them all in one go so they would show up in the Music Audio Lane, I couldn’t find a way to do that.
But apart from that, why doesn’t a Music Subrole not show up in the Music Audio Lane?

Well, after fiddling a bit with it for ten minutes… I had my first crash. It just popped of… Nothing’s changed much. 😉

I need some wicked responsiveness… FCPX 10.2 is too sluggish.
I still wonder though if Apple is doing a presentation about the future of FCPX, why were they so absent from te IBC and the NAB? They seem to not want to have anything to do with the majority of the world’s media professionals. Or are they afraid they will only get people giving them feedback (i.e. complaining)?

I’ll prolly work with the lanes open. I like a bit of order in my audio instead of the Tetrislook we had before.
What I still don’t get is why we’re still not able to customise the UI a bit more: like the background colors, the sizes of the lanes, or individual sizes of the various clips. We have some customisability now, which I’m happy about. But it still feels restricted. Plus, it cramps up my screen very quickly… I would like a bit more control over the sizes of stuff.
Weird thing in the end is: they put stuff back we once had in FCP7… except in a variation. Why not give us back more of what worked.

HAHAHA!!!
It has… they’re putting a lot of ‘old stuff’ back in FCPX… Could it be that some NLE’s with longer track record actually have/had something going for them, that some ‘old paradigm’ stuff actually made sense? 😉

Frankly, it looks like they’re adding a lot of options FCP7 already had. And AVID’s had for ages (like color coding audio tracks, ordering them (here: audio lanes and moving up or down entire role), the remove attributes option).
Is this the beginning of the end of the ‘new paradigm’. It does look like they’re reinventing stuff that’s been around for a long time.
All I can hope is that the performance is better. Getting tired of FCPX slowness on bigger projects… err…. I mean Libraries.

But, I do notice a marginally better response time from FCPX is I shut all these things down. Not major, but A difference. But… then what? Then I know I shouldn’t go online during editing or check my mail… So if I see an improvement, then how do ‘fix’ that what I cannot see?
