Mpeg 1 is a very poor option for video projected on a TV, but you could improve things some by encoding at 2 mbps which is almost double your current settings. For DVD quality you should use Mpeg 2 at about 6 mbps, but you will need to install a Mpeg 2 decoder (software player) on the playback system.

You can delete Premiere’s pref file….C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Premiere Pro\1.5\Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs
The playback issue sounds like video card driver problem, but try switching Desktop Playback modes from “Use Direct 3D” to “Use GDI” (DV Playback Settings) before updating drivers.

Premiere can certainly deal with stills, but if you are going to do a lot of montage productions, try Pro Show Gold…photodex.com.

One concern is that you may be viewing a bad preview…have you rendered before preview?. Also 300 dpi is WAY TOO much for video…try resizing in PS to about 1200×900.

fuvideo is all that I have seen from still cams, usually caused by wierd frame rates, like 17 fps!

In addition to missing the scripting thing, Adobe lacks crop/resize, upload to server, batch processing, Encoder plug-ins, DMR capabilities and 3 ustilities…file editor, profile editor and stream editor.

Premiere does support mbr files…just click “Audience” in the left pane to add audiences.
