Without seeing your work, very often with sponsored or corporate video it is in the script, imagination, story ideas more than anything else that the big shortcomings show up. Though trying to work without lights would be a big issue.
I’d guess you’d want to impress your new boss with how well you can do with what you’ve got – and begin a slow process of showing up problems if and as the occur, how you’ve gor round them, and how extra investment might improve either end product or workflow. But just pitching that you need the latest kit isn’t likely to impress an experienced manager.

Good 2D animation software for the kind of results you indicated include Toon Boom Studio and Anime Studio Pro, which I’ve been working with here.
Results depend more on your animator than the software – it’s not the use of Word or Final Draft that leads to a great story – though fit-for-purpose software makes the task much easier. If you have budget, you might be searching for Epipheo-style animators to pitch to you, or if you have the time (months, if you can draw a little already and are good with software) you might be on a learning path with one of the above.

The GH3 stills quality is excellent, though not quite 5D mark 3 level, and the stills ergonomics on both canon and lumix probably still trail Nikon.
You’ll have to decide what’s well enough for you.

Both might stress you a bit on getting good audio.
To my mind the big differentiator is the bigger image sensor, leading to reduced depth of field in focus for the 5D. This can be a great look, though reduced depth of field is also of course achievable on the GH3 through shooting wide aperture. The better autofocus of the GH3 in video mode offsets that advantage somewhat
