Softron’s output is dependent on the video card you use – if you use an SDI output only, then you have SDI only. If you use a card or external device from AJA or BMD that supports composite analog – then of course, you can do composite anaolog. Not sure when you say “TV” whether you are referring to composite analog output or HDMI or YUV. Most professional outputs are SDI, HDMI or YUV – and even though you can output using whatever the card outputs – well, composite??

Adam did not mention it here but perhaps you want to see a demonstration of what Softron has to offer with the release of their Smart Playout Engine. You can read more about it here> https://softron.tv/products/smartplayoutengine.html – There is a Youtube video of the playback on the bottom of that page.

April 26, 2013 at 6:02 pm in reply to: Live multi-cam editing and streaming in Premiere?

Softron (https://www.softron.tv) makes a product called Multicam Logger which allows you to log multiple angles and then bring your clips directly into Premiere in order to edit them later.

So Multicam Logger will answer this part of your post: If not possible in premiere is there a way to use another program for the streaming and then have an XML or EDL to be able to see all the live cuts that we made and modify it for future editing?

As far as outputting to the web – MovieStreamer HLS requires a video input at the current time but that can be used for streaming HTTP Live Streaming (so for iOS, Android, etc.) (Softron announced its Smart Playout Engine at NAB – and that will allow streaming to the web directly from its playout applications. The SPE will be built into the playout products in Q4/13, so after IBC.) If you were taking your Program out of the switcher to the input of MovieStreamer HLS, you could stream the Program Live – and, while running Multicam Logger, all of your cuts would be recorded to an EDL.

Finally Softron also has a product called MovieRecorder that you can use to capture multicam and edit with Premiere. There is an article here that provides the details. https://softron.zendesk.com/entries/20894567-HOW-TO-Do-Edit-while-ingest-with-Adobe-Premiere-Pro- That allows you to edit while ingesting the video. You’d use one MovieRecorder for each input that you are capturing live and of course you would need to have a video card like the Blackmagic Design Decklink Quad to do the capture.

Multicam Logger however does not require that you capture directly to the computer. Let’s say you have four cameras and each is recording to the storage on the camera. The video connection from the camera is going to the switcher. You are using Multicam Logger to log your angles and any markers that you want. You could be streaming the Program to the Net with MovieStream HLS. After the shoot – go back to your Mac and just copy the media that was recorded on the individual cameras to your storage and associate the angles of each camera to the media on the drive. Then edit. That way, you don’t need to schlepp a MacPro with you and massive amounts of storage. Use a MBP to do all of your logging, use the cameras for the media.

So there are a lot of ways to do what you want.

If using an Intel Mac, OnTheAir CG from Softron (https://www.softronmedia.com) It uses Blackmagic Design Decklink cards to key CG over live video in standard definition.

I just started hosting the Softron Forum here on the Cow so if you have more questions on Softron, ping me over there and I will answer them in that forum.

If you are using a PC with XP, you can use UltraRed from Magicsoft (https://www.magicsoft.tv) UltraRed uses BMD, BF and Deltacast cards for overlaying video. There are SD and HD versions. Refer to the specs on their site if you are configuring the system yourself.

Some vendors build integrated systems including UltraRed SW. See https://www.nextcomputing.com/news/article.php?ID=84.

There are any number of CG apps that will do what you ask for. However, if you are looking for a dedicated sports statistics hardware / software bundle, you might check out the Deltacast Stat system on their website. https://www.deltacast.tv/
