Thanks for your help John & Dave. Unfortunately my pc isn’t 64bit, and is unupgradeable to 64bit, so I can’t trial Vegas 12. Though from what you’re saying Vegas 12 does seem pretty good.
I’ve seen this desktop, which is in the price range, and looks pretty good. It comes with 4th gen i5 processor (is this good enough, or do I need i7?), quad-core with 8Gb RAM (https://www.johnlewis.com/lenovo-ideacentre-k450-desktop-pc-intel-core-i5-8gb-ram-2tb-8gb-sshd-silver-black/p839151).
On the topic of processors, is there some hidden stat that determines has “good” it is? I’ve seen one of the most expensive processors out there is only 2GHz clock speed.

Unfortunately I don’t think I’m able to upgrade the graphics card in my pc lol…

Well I can’t think what else it would be. If I’m able to render fine in Vegas 10, which requires the same specs if not higher than 9, yet I can’t render in 9. And my specs are within and above the recommended for vegas 9, and I’m rendering in fairly basic quality (720p, around 4mins long), yet it can render up to 4K.

Just to update where I’m at, left with very few options I decided to download the trial of Vegas 10, rendered my project in that, and to my surprise it worked! Not a single error message, and I was able to render it twice (1st time 720p, second 1080p).
That’s good and bad news. Its good since I still can render, and I know my memory shouldn’t be a problem, but bad since I think the trial only lasts 30 days I think.
I guess its probably an error with Vegas 9, rather than an issue with my specs. Are things like this a common issue?

My PC only supports up to 4GB of RAM (which I already have) according to the crucial memory scan.
Would there be any advantage to me buying new RAM, when its the same amount as I already have?
My PC is Advent PQD5002

I went onto the crucial memory website, and did the RAM scan. It said the max RAM would be 4GB, which I already have…
Are there any advantages to buying the same amount of RAM. Is it possible that old RAM could become “worn” in some way, so new RAM may help?
I also saw on the same website, something about “32 bit systems can only optimise 3.5GB of RAM”, and my system is 32-bit, so does that mean only 3.5GB of the RAM can be used?
Just in case its of any use, my computer is Advent PQD5002, it has 2 memory slots (both are currently used up, as I think its 2GBx2 RAM sticks), and DDR2 RAM.

Thanks for your advice, but I still can’t seem to get it to work.
I tried increasing the pagefile, and made them both (initial + max) at the recommended amount (5181MB I think), but still I get the same memory error message :(.
I’m not sure what the problem could be, since the recommended RAM for vegas 9 is 2GB, and I have 2x that, so in theory it should be fine.
I no expert at technical stuff, but I’m wondering if there’s any way to manually slow down the render, so it may be less intensive on RAM. Its just a theory, but does anyone know if this exists, and would it help?

@Steve Rhoden I have no installed plugins, other than the default ones for Vegas 9.

This is really frustrating me now, I’ve been able to render up to 1080p before with no problems, and after 4 months of editing this video I can’t render it :(.
Just as some additional info, the video I’m trying to render has 2 video tracks (1 with video, the other is a watermark), and 1 audio track which has music.

Ok I’ll change the max pagefile to that, do you have any recommendations for the inital value? Should I set that to 0 or 1, or set it to 16 (which was underneath it as “minimum allowed”)
