Thanks for the response. I played around a little bit more and found that if I set the Encoder to H.264 and Preset to HDTV 1080p 29.97 target bit rate to 32Mbps for 30 second clip it would yield a 144 mb file with really great quality. I took this file into Handbrake set the Preset to Iphone4 and it ylelds a M4v file the size of 18mb and quality is same as the 144mb file

Thanks for the response. So this is normal for the video capture to skip when a stabilized lens is used and
stabilization turned on. I do use the Rode Video Mic or my wireless for audio

Get good glass ( Canon 50mm 1.4, Canon 10-22 3.5, Tamron Wide angle zooms etc)and some neutral density filters. I use the Rode shotgun VideoMic on top and no problems. I don’t use a stabilizer and find with the above lens they are easy to balance whether I am walkig forward or backward. With heavier lenses(longer focal length) get a stabilizer or use a Manfrotto tripod. The heavier the more stable. If you need to move around a lot and don’t have a stabilizer use a monopod(They are inexpenisve). If you don;t have the money for HN4 Zoom get the H2. Its’ does a pretty good job

Just shot some footage with the 7D while flying in Piper Dakota. Did not have the jello effect and found there was a little vibration. Coper is a little different environment. Next time I will try to take care of vibration in FCP post or with a stabilizer.I shot full auto 30 fps using a 17-35mm Tamron lens. Also I set auto focus in Live View before switching to video and it held focus for most of the shots. Most of the time I was at 17 mm(28mm adjusted for crop sensor) Wide angle is the way to go. I am thinking 10 mm next time. You can see the results of this test on https://www.vimeo.com and key in “Dakota” Also used a Rode Video Mic and it was not bad for sounds. Wish I could adjust sound on the 7D like I do with my camcorders. This was the first test with the camera. Did a little post color adjustment in Color.
