A Mac based Resolve is limited to 3 GPUs. A system with 4 GTX580s will be a system with one of those GTX580s not being used.

The only other caveat to be aware of is that shots that are longer or start earlier than the original will also not trace. The frames in the new clip must be entirely enclosed in the original clip in order to trace, which means the clip has to either be exactly the same or shorter.

Color tracing relies on only two things, time code and reel ID (aka tape name in Avid parlance). If those are the same, the color will trace. If they’re not, it won’t. I can almost guarantee that if you look in the media pool at the Reel ID column, the ones that traced have an entry and it matches the original, and the ones that don’t either don’t have an entry or that entry doesn’t match the original.

Those AMA changes might also lead to sequence support (i.e., DPX sequences), something I talked to them about at NAB. Right now, the only Avid product where you can get such support is DS. That needs to change, and they seem to know that.

  • You must release control of the panels in Resolve to allow them to be recognized by other programs. Go into Preferences and tell it to use a panel type of “None,” then exit Resolve. That should do it.

Open EXR files are in linear light. You need to use a video gamma correction or a liner to video LUT to get a proper interpretation on a video monitor. Try starting with a gamma of about 2.4 and go from there.

Lite only uses 1 GPU, no matter how many are in the system. This is made very clear in all of the Resolve literature. If you want to use more than 1 GPU, you need to buy a Resolve license.

Have you looked at the manual? It’s explained very clearly.

Well, if you’ve run out of other options, you’ll have to enter the names yourself. You can do this either on an individual shot or a group of shots (you’d probably want to do the latter) in the Media Pool by selecting the shots, right clicking, and selecting “set reel number”. This will give you the same options as the configuration page, and you can then select “enter manually” and type in what those files need to have.

The path name parser is not a general expression parser and does not take general expressions as patterns. It is specifically designed to extract names from right to left, and those names can only be truncated, not concatenated.

That’s an Alexa file. The easiest way to extract what you want is to tell it to use the embedded reel name in the file header, that will give you what you’re describing.
