Thanks for the suggestion Steve. I can’t explain it but the issue resolved itself. I had tried the rollback and even uninstalled and reinstalled vegas and it still wouldn’t load right. Finally, I just left it at the initiating phase and did some yard work and it finally loaded. Maybe it just took an exceptional long time for that phase of the program due to the driver change or ?. Regardless, Vegas now loads as intended. Thanks again for responding.

Got this issue resolved by uninstalling the quicktime player, installing 7.1.6, which didn’t work with or outside of vegas, then updating from the about quicktime to latest version and bingo. Funny thing is that I had installed the latest version before and it didn’t work so I don’t know why it’s working now but I’ll take it.

October 28, 2008 at 1:04 am in reply to: vegas pro 8b locks up when trying to create a multicamera trackDouglas,
Thanks for responding. My settings and etc. are as follows:
First off, you might want to download 8c.
Good idea!
Additionally, if you’ve got a bottleneck for the three cams, such as a USB-based external drive, that can get you.
I am using a usb external drive
Or, if you’ve got preview settings at Best/Full,
Have setting on auto good
it might be you don’t have enough resource to properly draw.
not sure
Dumb question, but you don’t have anti-virus running, do you?
I do have anti virus running
Interestingly, I opened another pro 8 program and selected all events on the first and copied to the second open version of vegas and was able to create a multicamera track. Must have some setting or ? on the original that won’t allow me to create a multicam track.
By the way, I bought and I’m using your Vegas Pro 8 Editing Workshop training book. Good job!

You might try saving each group as a veg. file and then just import or drag and drop the veg file as needed into the current project you are working on.

Allen,
I have the pioneer dvr-533H. I think it’s been discontinued and replaced by the DVR-640H-S.

I don’t have the advc110 but use a 300. I use it to archive my old tapes too but don’t bring it into Vegas unless I want to do special titles and etc. I have a pioneer dvd recorder with a harddrive and just record to that (frees up computer) and do simple titles and editing and then copy to disc from the hd. Works great!. You might save some money if your camcorder has analog to dv conversion feature and you don’t want to buy a dvd recorder. I have use my old sony D8 camcorder for this and have never had a problem with audio sync issues and etc. when capturing to the computer using Vegas capture.

I had a similar problem once and copied clips to another hard drive and it opened. Don’t know if this is your solution or why it worked for me.

Thanks Fiddler! I was posting a reply to Gary Kleiner before I saw your reply so I guess I’ll experiment by buying a couple of firewire enclosures. Do you use the units with hd’s already enclosed? If not, any brands of firewire enclosures cases you’d recommend?

I thought I read something (on this forum?) that firewire was better than USB for video but to be honest, I have used USB. I just buy the enclosure and swap out the HD’s as opposed to buying the units that have the dives in them. I always wonder what happens if you had a drive failure in one of those units if you can replace the drive and still use the case. Anyway, one little adavantage firewire has is not have to do the “safe to remove hardware” thing but that’s certainly not a deal stopper. Have you daisy chained drives together effectively? Thanks again.

Thanks for the replies. I quess I was wondering about bandwidth problems if having a cam. and Hd hooked up too. I’ve never daisy chained any external HD’s together but was wondering if there could be any similar issues. Regardless, enjoy the vegas forum and for all the good knowledge passed along.
