Did you guys ever work this out? I realize its a bit old of a message.. Well I just had the same problem and read the comments.. They were very helpful, but I think issue here is the use of termonology.
There is no “animation tool” per se. IT is a mode, we switch to the “animation mode” where then we can use the other tools. But what object do we pick?
The designers at cinema4d are omni-present.. They antipicated that perhaps we would need to move entire animations in one go. Now there is a “model mode”../ There is a “object mode”.. There is a “polygon mode”. There are lots of modes! Each mode let’s us use different tools depending on the mode. And sometimes just to make things a little bit more confiusing (not to bag on the omnipresent cd4 programmers).. but using hair.. There is no “hair mode” but you have to use the “hair tools” to move scale and rotate in model mode (which look exactly like the other move scale rotate tools mentioned abobe.. Now I don’t want to lecture.. but in the compute world termonology is very important.. same for doctors..but I digress..
OK.. the idea here.. we want to move an entire animation. I was struggling as I often do with the move tool, selecting all the keys.. in model mode. in object mode.. (I had seen animation mode but did not know what it was for). Now we know.. This mode assumes you pick only the top of the heirarchary, in my case hips from mixamo.. then switch to animation mode.. It looks like a film strip. The order doesn’t matter.. you can switch to animation mode, then make your selection or visa versa. The important this is the selection. IF you try to move.. the entire animation (ie in the view port the axis since I picked the entire heirarchy) has an average position. I tried but could not. I thought, could it be the people at C4D are so cool as to know what I want.. Justt to drag the hip bone (at the top of the heirarchy) to where I want it.. And everything else follows! Yes! they are that cool.. Hats off.. sorry for the long answer.. But maybe others will get to the point quicker.. Thank you for comments here they were helpful. thank u to the omnipresent at C4D. I love this fustrating program!
