Mary, you need to upgrade to the latest build (770) as this was a known and fixed bug.
* Fixed a bug that caused the Iris transition to reverse A- and B-roll video when GPU acceleration was turned off.

I keep a few versions of this script on my taskbar and use it all the time. -
Derek, see if this trick helps (courtesy of user malowz on the Sony Vegas Pro forum).
Put 3 filters, “Invert” (at 100%), “Color Corrector”, “Invert” (at 100%).
Then lift up the gamma of the color corrector in the middle.
This darkens highlights first, in the logarithmic fashion, more like a “iris closing” way.
You can also put a color corrector secondary to select reds and lower the gamma a bit.Here are screen shots of my FX settings and the corrected shot.
This was a very rough attempt and I’m sure you can do better by playing around more than I did.

The great thing about the script is that (as I mentioned in my reply) it can be customized as desired. -
Here’s one way that will hopefully work for you.
Click on the first event (what Vegas calls a clip). Hold down the Shift key and click on all the others that you want to stretch/shrink.
Once they’re all highlighted, press the g key to group them together.
Now place your cursor at the end of the last event, hold down the Shift key and move it left or right as desired to stretch or shrink them. -
Just to clarify, by “multiple regions” do you mean a series of events in a Vegas defined region or a series of multiple but individual events?

Sorry for the delay but things are a wee bit hectic over the holidays 🙂
Your system isn’t too bad but an i5 processor isn’t ideal for editing HD footage which is what I assume you have on your timeline.
You didn’t say what type of footage it is nor if you have any FX applied to anything.
My experience with an underpowered machine is to convert everything to a Vegas-friendly format. In my case that was Sony MXF. It still wasn’t perfect but at least I could view it in Preview/Auto mode. Adding any FX to it still lowered performance though and I learned to live with it until I got a new more powerful system. -
I use a free utility called Speccy to get this information.

With the exception of doing RAM renders, the amount of RAM has very little to do with preview performance. What does make a difference is your CPU and graphics card so letting us know what those are will help us to help you.

The user manual can be downloaded from the Grass Valley site. You’ll need an account to be able to download it but it’s quick, easy and spam free 🙂
All you need is a firewire cable, 4 pin to 4 pin as I recall but the manual will make it clear for you.
It’s a hardware box so no drivers are needed.
