What I would do is import the new media into a new bin. Then highlight the new clips click modify then select source, there you can change the tape names. Assign each clip the tape name of the old clip.
Then again highlight all your new clips in the bin. Go to the old clips high light and select relink. In the relink dialog box select Selected Items in All open bins. Your old clips should then be relinked to your new LUT clips. and all you edits should update as well.
Just to be safe I would have a back up of you old clips bin in the avid attic just in case something goes ary.

Yes I could fast import but in speed test I’ve done consolidating is faster then both fast import or transcode. And a lot of time we work with media like xdcam which can’t fast import but can consolidate. Also when I teach my student crew it’s helpful to not have to have to many workflows for the new ones to have to remember, and by remember I mean forget 🙂
But it’s good to know we are not the only ones that have issues with the sound devices. And if there is no fix then I guess we will have to have multiple workflows.
Thanks

I’m wondering if a fix was ever found for this issue. as I am having the same problem. Except my footage is 1080i60 dnxhd 145 mov from a Sony f3. Weird thing is some of the footage will fast import or consolidate just fine while other clips will not.

May 16, 2013 at 5:25 pm in reply to: Why are the highlights on Saturday Night Live so overexposed?while I have no working knowledge of the SNL broadcast, my best guess based off my experience is the lighting designers don’t have enough time in a week to sett perfectly balanced intensity for all of the various skits so the VC engineers decided to expose the cameras for skin tone, not caring to much about highlights.
just a guess though

The hpx is a good camera, but what exactly are you wanting to do? and why is the SDI out a requirement. Are you wanting to record to a external device? Are you planing on doing a lot of panning zooming and focus, if so look into getting Lanc controls. do you have a lot of low light needs? For 8k i would look into getting the AG-HPX370 with some focus and zoom controls controls for me its a better egonomic fit for doing live event camera work.

+1 to carrying the camera as a carry on, but if your going international check and see if you going to a carnet accepting country. It will save you tons of headaches with customs. As for case. Pelican is the way to go. Best bang for the buck.

My best bet would be canon, it’s got a good sensor great codec and shoots to cf cards. Also it has a lanc remote in so uou can get a varizoom controller and be all set
