Steve, I just dropped the unedited pics into the timeline. There were other pics from other cameras on the trip that I used. I hit the match media button for a few that looked out of focus. My pictures are high resolution. Is cropping automatic in Vegas or do I have to command it?

John, The clip is a selection of stills from a trip to AK. The pictures show a lot more detail than the rendered clip. I am not sure, but I take it I need to make the adjustment you suggest out of Vegas.

Here are samples showing the difference in the stills and clip.

Good eye, Steve! That was it. I’ll file that one in my Problem solved list. I looked all over and didn’t see it. Thanks again! ;^)

Thanks Eric but that did not do it. It appears right from the beginning of the clop to the end. I am going to uninstall the program pretty soon, lol… Can’t find any cursors out of place on any track motion box. I notice when I pull the first frame to the beginning it fills the box until I let go???

I am in learning mode here and the curve is just a tad steep…Appreciate the patience.

U was looking to see where I can take it. I would consider it more of a hobbyist thing for now. If I am going to lay out the money I might as well get the best I can afford. Seems like everything is going tapeless to some degree. I would like to have a Canon XH A1. This is the standard it seems, but the price once again really took a jump.

I noticed those temperature specs. All cameras have a con somewhere. I don;t think I’ll be shooting in subfreezing temps. If I do there are ways to keep it warm, I’d imagine.

I appreciate you insight, Alf. I’ll decide on something one way or the other.

Anyone with a suggestion for a camera for what I want to do without breaking the bank? Even a response, anyone.

I would go with something used but have been burnt going down that road…I really would like to keep it around $3000 all said and done to start.

Thanks Alf, I have an AMD Phenom 9550 quadcore processor with 5 gig of memory. All of the reviews I have read on the camera are positive, but then you don’t see them all and you hope you are not reading the words of marketers selling cameras. I was hoping to get some input on the issues I may or may not face using the Vegas software with it. It is a big step and i want to make sure it is the right one. I have always used Canon equipment, but the prices are too steep.

This camera is the little brother of your Panasonic HMC150.

Thank you gentlemen! Very sound advice from all. Getting off on the right foot here with a place for everything and everything in its place has to be a plus. I never really had the discipline to do this. With your points in the right direction I will dedicate myself to the task. I am sure it will really help in my desire to get good at this stuff….

    Happy New Year!

Well that was easy enough. Really appreciate it, John. Right under my nose. Have to keep playing, I guess….
