It has nothing to do with getting creative. These DVDs and Thumb drives sell for $30/$40 each. I’m not about to go publish all the hours of work online so people can just share a link/password and rip us off. Obviously, we can publish videos online. It’s getting paid for our work and effort that’s the issue.

Looks that way! Still haven’t gotten any feedback from any other forums either. Obviously I’m doing it wrong. LOL!
Cheers!

Wow! Thanks Ken. I’ll have to tuck this away for future reference. I rebooted later that day and Encore opened fine. I have no clue what was causing it but I was able to launch it and burn the DVD masters. Whew!!
Thanks again!

Hey Jeff,
Yes. I transfer all the files from the SD cards to an external RAID or external HDD. Then import into PPro via the Project panel. I also tried using the Media Browser and drag and drop. No luck. All these AVCHD files came off of two identical GH4 cameras. We have to use AVCHD for these recitals because they are two hours long, non stop. MP4 or MOV won’t allow us to shoot continuously past 28 minutes. The GH4’s group all the clips together into one AVCHD file. Has always worked fine in the past and with the same camera shooing AVCHD the next day. All those files imported fine as they have in the past. I’m stumped.

Hi Al,
Yes, I’m using the latest version. But I can’t get my head wrapped around why the same format AVCHD files imported fine the day before and yesterday all I got were lock ups during the same process with the same type files. Makes me think that file size could be an issue? 2GB vs 15GB? I’ve imported much larger files without issue.
You mentioned changing the file name as a potential workaround. The root AVCHD file name?
Cheers!

Nah. Typically takes only a few seconds to import and about a minute to conform in the background on my system. After several seconds of “trying” to import the AVCHD file(s) PPro locks up. I can monitor the status in the Activity Monitor and Premiere goes red and says not responding and locks up after a few seconds. Every time. I have to force quit and relaunch after each attempt.
I finally got tired of screwing with it and transcoded the files to MOV in Quicktime so I can get these recitals cut and out the door. It’s an Adobe issue for sure. Something to do with High Sierra I’m guessing. It’s not the Dolby codec AC3 conflict so many others on Windows are dealing with. This just seems odd since everything worked great as of yesterday and nothing has been updated or deleted from the Mac OS.
Anyone??

Thanks Jeff!
The reason I wanted to utilize the HDMI output is I typically already use both Thunderbolt ports on my MacBook Pro for my RAID, hard drives, audio I/O, etc. The little BMD box I purchased seems to be doing the job just fine at this point. It’s just feeding a Panasonic broadcast SDI monitor for client viewing so we’re all set.
Cheers!

Hey Kevin,
Hooked up the Micro converter and this is what it shows in PPro:
I also downloaded the latest drivers for BMD converters but it doesn’t recognize the Micro HMDI>SDI.
I’m able to see video on the SDI monitor but it’s not quiet full screen. Slight letter boxing top and bottom of the screen and the video from Premire plays back a little choppy. Not sure if this is as good as it gets or a step I might be missing.
Thoughts?

March 3, 2018 at 6:43 am in reply to: External Monitor preference for PPro CC: Thunderbolt2>SDI or HDMI>SDI?Ok gotcha! I only have 2 Thunderbolt ports on my MBP. Many times I’m working off two portable external hard drives with no loop thrus so using HDMI>SDI is the way I think I need to go at this point. It’s not for grading. Just to send the SDI signal to the Panasonic broadcast monitor for confidence and client viewing, etc.
Thanks Kevin!
