    Hi Lachlan,

I would say it depends on the job; I have two similar keyboard shortcut layouts I swap between, depending on whether I am doing VFX or AE work.

You definitely want to become familiar with the alternate functions for marking/navigation when holding down ALT, which can save some headaches while you are getting used to the way patching works.

I also have Add Edit, gang source/record, and Extend edit mapped in, since I use those a lot. And if you’re doing a lot of string outs or bulk edits, turn on edit from bin (which isn’t a keyboard shortcut and you didn’t ask for advice, sorry).

FOUND IT, what a joyous day. I’ll post the solution here in hopes that future generations can find this faster.
You can assign any named setting to a workspace layout, so if you duplicate your preferred/current workspace and type the name of your keyboard layouts in its properties window, you can then assign each workspace to a keyboard shortcut using the command palette (ctrl/cmd+3) and you’re all set.

    Hi Ann,

I believe this follows your default bin-opening behaviour:

Settings > Bin > “Creating a new Bin or opening a closed Bin”

Set the radio button to “Tabs the Bin…”

When you open bins directly, you can hold ctrl/cmd to reverse this behavior if tabs aren’t generally where you want them to open.
