What model computer were you using before the xw8400, and was it qualified by avid?

You should be running MC 2.8.3 with QT version 7.3.1. You can’t run full screen mode while DNA is active…make sure the DNA/1394 switch is set to 1394 on your timeline.

Are you using the driver that came with the AVID software ie: C:\Program Files\Avid\Utilities\nVidia\WinXP_2k(91.85).exe ?

  • If the deck is connected and says “PC Remote” you don’t need to reinstall the drivers. If not, find the disk that came with the deck and dig for drivers…I’ve never been able to get downloaded Sony drivers to work.

We used to have this problem, and we had to unmount our Unity before Windows would assign the XDCAM deck a drive letter. So, you might try booting with no other external devices or drives except the XDCAM deck.

Finally, you must insert a disc before windows will let you see the drive.

Are there 6 verticle lines of shakiness? If so, you might have imported 720×486 when AVID was expecting 720×480 or vice versa. Other problems could be in the import settings of AVID. If you’re doing NTSC DV make sure the options in AVID are 601 and 601 lower filed first. You can either change the import settings in the settings tab by double clicking the import setting with the check mark next to it, OR choose “override current settings” in the import dialog.

    Happy editing.
