If it were me I would find a local HD shooter – someone here on the COW or elsewhere probably knows someone with a good reputation – let them do the work and rely upon their local knowledge – you act as producer.

The few live events we have done we did indeed rent an MX-50.
Videonics, while not a broadcast level company, sells interesting studio in a box setups – check out the BHPhoto website.If you are doing straight switching, no effects, supers or anything but cuts, perhaps a simple push button switcher – something that switches synchronously without a visual glitch. The audience doesn’t care. Browse the Markertek catalog – they have tons of those types of switchers/routers, etc.
Or you could always go with a patch panel and patch cables – tell your client that the black flash between sources is retro.

I would guess that in 100% of wedding videos, the music is used without permission. It is only a matter of time before the music industry figures this out and stops people from getting married!

From my limited experience with Premiere and Photoshop Elements I have one thing to say “You get what you pay for.” These are consumer programs designed to edit Timmy’s birthday party and Bella’s soccer game.

Import your raw video into Media Encoder and export as a Sequence to whatever image format you want. You can go as low as 1 frame per second. Then import the frames into Premiere and add to a sequence at whatever duration you like. You can then make a nested sequence if you want to adjust the speed.
Note when you try to drag the frames to a sequence premiere may do it in numerical order(1,10,11,12…2,20,21…), not actual order (1,2,3,4,5…). you may want to rename the files so they are 000000, 000001…etc. Google ‘bulk rename utility” for a handy app I use a lot.This method avoids having to import the raw footage into Premiere, conform, index, render, export, reimport – you will need a lot of coffee.

Yet there is also a Mediterranean Film Festival by the same name.What kind of idiot named Apple? A really smart idiot.
Drug names are mostly meaningless amalgamations of too many consonants and not enough vowels. X, Y and Z are popular these days. P, D and Q may be up and coming letters!
Sometimes they sound like the chemical name but not always. Interestingly is the fact that a drug developed for one purpose if sometimes known for another purpose, like those drugs that men take before they sit in bathtubs at sunset.
Recently I came up with a list of potential names for a co-worker’s son’s rock band. None of the names have anything to do with music but they sound cool.
I guess that’s what it comes down to – does it sound cool or at least is it something you would remember.
Most appropriate for this thread is the fact that the COW in Creative COW is in fact an acronym, yet the four-legged ruminant of the same name gets all the press!
Although the world flags sitting in the sunny meadow at the top of the page remind us this is a community of the world.

The fact that you are 18 and asking these questions indicates that you are a good thinker and thinking beyond the moment.
I think one mistake people make is being too specialized, and/or becoming a good technician. Those technical programs like Full Sail or Connecticut School of Unemployment tend to teach technical skills but no real sense of what to do with them. I have seen the same situation with people who went to film school. It used to be that film school students weren’t taught much more than theory. The common statement we heard in New England about BU and Emerson film schools was “underclassmen are not allowed to touch anything.” Not sure this is still true in the age of digital video.But getting back to your question, as the others have said, be well rounded. College is partially about learning skills, but mostly it is about learning to be a critical thinker, a problem solver, a mature educated person who can become valuable to a company. If you think you need a minor, go for lit or business. Or just stick with the Comm major and use your free time to read the classics and audit some courses in finance, accounting, marketing, advertising, and don’t forget math and science, which are usually required courses in a liberal arts school.

Not to belabor the point, but when you are a salaried employee, pretty much whatever it takes to get the job done is in your job description.
What sort of things have I done over the years?
Loading and unloading pallets from trucks.
An all night editing session with trips to and from Chicago at either end.
While one of our employees was on an extended vacation with his family I did his entire job as well as my own for 4 weeks.
Rented, installed and operated an HD projector and sound board in a rented 1000 seat theater in NY.Just yesterday I made this attractive display stand for use at our exhibit booth. Not for praise – not for monetary gain, but because it is good for business.
Yep, Aaron and anyone else who questions their work assignments – you do what you have to do to get the job done, service the client, make profit for your employer.
