Activity Forums Adobe Premiere Pro crashes!

  • Posted by Donna Rossi on April 7, 2010 at 3:41 pm

I am so frustrated…. I have adobe premeire elements 7 on a HP i7 processor with a huge harddrive. It’s practically the only program I have on the computer and I’m about 6 minutes into a video and the darn thing keeps crashing!!!! I once in a while get a box that says Adope is running low on memory … I don’t know what that means … my computer has a ton of memory .. so how do I clear out memory in a specific program like Adobe … and then all the sudden I’m editing and I get a box that says Adobe has encountered a problem.. and is shutting down. Please HELP!

    Hi Donna,

I’ve not use Elements myself, but what is the content of your video? If there is perhaps a gigantic, high-resolution still image in the project, maybe something like that could cause an issue.

    Donna,

Elements has a tendency to crash if you have too many clips on the timeline especially 1920 x 1080 Mov files. if it happens we close down the whole computer and start again. Do not automatically save. manually save as you go, it is a pain but, Premiere Pro even older versions do not do this except mov files out of a Canon EOS 5D Mark II. try rendering if necessary as you go and save.

I manually save, and I reboot every 2 hours… I know the frustration you are going thru, but this is the only solution.

From my limited experience with Premiere and Photoshop Elements I have one thing to say “You get what you pay for.” These are consumer programs designed to edit Timmy’s birthday party and Bella’s soccer game.

    Mike,
I agree Premiere Elements is no where as good as Premiere Pro but, we cannot fault PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS provided you don’t try to process 400+ large images at once, Canon Professional is far better.
But, the whole lot leave a lot to be desired.

Premiere Elements 8 has an update, although it does not register in the splash screen…go to Help>Updates.
