You can use Page Up and Page Down (at least that’s what I use) to go to next or previous edit point on selected tracks. This is a bit annoying – if all of your tracks are not selected, and you try to go to the next edit point, you don’t get the next edit point, you get the next edit point on the tracks that are targeted. I find that I spend a lot of time targeting and untargeting tracks in Premiere.

nice design – definitely an upgrade to the forum-like format of the original jobs board. With all the talk on the Biz forum about people needing jobs, this looks like the place to go for both employers and employees (or employees-in-waiting).

I can sell you several acres of land that is planned to be used for the pilings for the Manhattan to Coney Island bridge/tunnel – it is pedestrians and unicycles only and is caught up in zoning negotiations. Apparently the local mimes union fears that their monopoly on unicycling is threatened. The ACLU is now getting involved.
I don’t even know what this thread was about, but it is fun!

Yes the world is full of digital information, but think back to the early 2000’s before Facebook. How did we find out if a potential hire is a creep or not? We get references, we interview the person, we have others interview the final candidates, and you make every effort to not hire an axe murderer. And seriously, would an axe murderer really have evidence of this activity on his Facebook page?

Find a niche I always say. College kids with a camcorder and an iMac don’t have a niche.
Wedding guys have a niche that pays very well, which is why there is usually 1 or 2 wedding guys per town who do very well.
Most towns have a video company that specializes in corporate video, training, commercials, education, government – sure you need to convince local businesses to use your services (think factory vs chip shop), but as you have learned, sales is 50% of the battle.There are numerous articles and similar thread on the Business and Marketing forum from folks in your boat.

I’m with Bill. Experience is usually, out of 100 people:
80% will give Hayden Christensen from Attack of the Clones a run for his money
15% will do ok after about 10 takes
5% will nail it as if they have been reading off a teleprompter at their local affiliate for years – these are few and far betweenI recently hired some actors and they asked if we would have a teleprompter – I don’t know how you’d shoot dialogue scenes with a teleprompter if the actors are supposed to be looking at each other. But as Bill said, a good actor will memorize whatever they get from you, and usually make it their own. They will also be good at improvising, or repeating your own improvised lines.
I got quotes in DC for $500+ per day too.
We could almost buy our own ship for that.

First bit of advice – don’t post things like “I stink at XYZ” on a website that is instantly tracked by search engines.
But aside from that, posting on Craigslist is not marketing – it is really like posting a classified ad in the newspaper just between the obituaries and the free kittens. Good luck with that!

Update your “about” page here on Creative COW – at the moment I see you are in Raleigh, NC but no other details besides your computer system. Clients don’t really care about all the equipment you spent your camp counselor tips on – they want to know you can produce their video.
Where is your reel?
Do you have your business on google places? If I’m looking for a video guy in Raleigh Google Maps is the first place I go. You can have a link to your website right there.
Have a blog? Tweets? FB? Not big eye catchers but depends upon your content.
Certainly post in the various wedding services forums if that is your service. Very competitive market.

“If you build it, they will come” works for baseball fields and time-wasting first-person shooter phone apps, not for websites and classified ads – you need to drive traffic to you.
That should be enough to get you started.

Based upon my FB I am highly qualified to care for animals and to prepare Thanksgiving dinner. Not very helpful. I suppose if there were lots of photos of debauchery that might disqualify someone but most FB pages are about friends and family. Not job performance.
