Mercury Playback engine hack
Posted by Lawrence Gray on July 11, 2011 at 10:08 amI understand that I can get my Quadro FX 5600 on my Mac Pro to be used by the mercury playback engine in PP by simply adding it to the cuda_supported_cards.txt
However, I’ve done that and it still leaves the choice menu between software and hardware greyed out.
So what am I missing?

July 11, 2011 at 6:03 pmMake sure your Quadro has 1GB video memory or more or it won’t work. I made the mistake of ordering a card with 512Mbs and it won’t work. Some say it will work with 700MB+ but just to be save make sure it has a gig or more.

July 11, 2011 at 6:32 pmWill this hack work with other video cards?
Recently got what I thought was a ‘top of the line’ imac (i7 27″ ) but was disappointed to see that Mercury Playback was not supported via hardware.Local is the new global

July 11, 2011 at 6:35 pmHere is the link to the hack.
https://www.studio1productions.com/Articles/PremiereCS5.htmYour video card has to be a Nvidia Chip and at least 1GB ram.

July 12, 2011 at 3:50 amIt’s an NVIDIA QUADRO FX 5600 which is 1.5gig. So in theory it should work.
I’ve updated drivers etc etc and done everything I was supposed to do in the hack and it still wont play.So maybe there’s just one stage I haven’t done?

July 12, 2011 at 1:17 pmThere is a reason it is called a hack. Are you going to call adobe and ask why it doesn’t work?
Hardware is approved for a reason.
