It sounds like the feature you are looking for is called “Project Manager”. Basically you make a new sequence (or sequences) with all the elongated clips for the client, then go to File > Project Manager…, select that sequence(s), and check the options to collect files and copy to new location. You can read more about it online I’m sure, but that’s the way to go.

Select a problem clip in the timeline, and then check the Effect Controls tab, and look under the Motion settings. See if the Scale of the clip is different than that of a clip which appears the way you want it.

In what form will the client want the clips? As stand-alone movie files? A premiere project file with just those clips in a new sequence?

Click the “Match Source” button, or just uncheck the boxes you want to change.

  • I have similar errors and audio popping problems. They tend to be more prevalent when I am running low on RAM and generally taxing the system at more than a minimum amount. This is with playback of HD MXF files (50Mbit XAVC) on a 2013 MacPro 6×3.33, 32GB RAM, off an OWC 4TB Raid 0 Thunderbolt enclosure.

I suspect having a separate scratch drive for the audio would solve the issue but I have not tried it yet.

Why not just use the normal cross dissolve to a black layer at the end?

  • I have found that when dealing with only two audio channels you can preserve them on export if you pan them hard left/right in the Audio Track Mixer. Then export as stereo. Of course this has to be done for each clip. Hopefully there is a better way but for now this works for me.

    I remember FCP 7 had a discrete output option…
