I recorded a short film from my iPhone 6 Plus and uploaded them to my computer to edit. I have not changed the aspect ratio or anything of the sort, but when I upload only certain videos, a black border forms around the entire thing. I’ve imported about 45 videos and it’s occurred to three of them. I also do not have After Effects.

Where do you see the black border; in the source window or the program monitor? Are all your videos shot with the same settings? A screenshot of your project would be helpful.

All videos are the same settings. I haven’t touched any of them since I uploaded them, and once I started editing them together, I encountered the problem three times.

This is the problem I’ve been having.

And this is what the normal clips look like.

Select a problem clip in the timeline, and then check the Effect Controls tab, and look under the Motion settings. See if the Scale of the clip is different than that of a clip which appears the way you want it.

    Hi Charlie,

The sample shown with the black bars around it looks like a 720p clip in a 1080 Sequence perhaps? Right-click one clip at a time in Project Bin and look at “Properties” and check the dimensions of the source clips.

    Thanks
