In case anyone’s having the same problem, I figured it out: just experiment with the evolution in fractal noise and it works!

Thanks for the speedy reply, Walter.

A few questions: Which codec would be a good choice for viewing on the web? Any suggestions? My final output for this project will be a quicktime file that probably will be streamed over the web. I don’t need an alpha channel.
Also, is it necessary to view the files with an external monitor if it’s not for film or broadcast, or is this just standard with FCP?

    Thanks again,
    Mike

    Thanks, Roland.

I did notice, though, in the cs4 help section that AE doesn’t read audio from XFL files. Is there (or will there) be a work-around for this (aside from independently importing audio?)

Also, I’ve been experimenting with importing SWF files from flash into AE and they won’t play audio either (the swf play audio as standalone files.) Any tips on how to get them to do that? (I’m running tiger 10.4.11 and quicktime 7.5.5)

    Thanks!

In case anyone’s interested, I posted this in another forum and got a couple of interesting replies.
In CS4, Flash (and AE) will be able to export using XFL, which is basically a container with layers, similiar to FLA’s.
Can’t wait for CS4 to experiment with this.

oops–meant to say FLA into AE.

Is there a way to import into cs4 AE maintaining layers? Or will it always be a single file with all the elements compressed together?
    thanks

thanks for the tip, Dave. Will try…(still wondering about why AE doesn’t recognize swf’s….)

Tried exporting the flash file as a quicktime (using animation codec, and actually keeping the mp3) and it worked. Thanks! Now, if I could only figure out why the imported swf file won’t import the audio. Anyone here have any ideas/solutions? Or is quicktime the only way to go?
    Thanks

Thanks, Dave. I’ll try it and see if it works. I doesn’t make sense to me, especially now that Abode owns Flash, that swf files can’t be imported easier. And while I love AE, gee, the mp3 thing is very disconcerting–especially if you’re working with big audio files. AIFF’s can be monsters.
