    1. is the footage ok played back in the camera?
Can pretty much rule out camera files, as it is happening with basic mograph comps.

    3. breakup is not appearing on RAM previews” uncompressed AVI’s or Lagarith codec are corrupted or not compatible with a 64 bit OS.

Not sure what you mean? The RAM previews are clear as day, but the renders are randomly messed up. Uncompressed AVI and MOV, and lagarith.

    Cheers

    Hi Dave,
This is crazy. I tried everything you said, and still no good.
I was able to render to image sequence, but then could not render to .avi or .mov without similar errors.. sometimes the black flashes were flashes of video from later in the render…

I brought the image sequence into Sony Vegas, and everything previews beautifully, but when I try to render a h264, the same old black flash frames appear… 2 seperate programs!

    What could it be?

    Please help

    Thanks Dave,
That was my first thought…. But when I rendered all the comps out to an image sequence there was no error. If I then render this clean image sequence out to an uncompressed file, I get the black drop outs… these are not just black frames… they are broken up lower thirds of black…. very weird… I am now rendering without multiprocessor….. looks promising

    Hey Gary,
Thanks for your input…. I think I’ll have to soldier on with this… it’s there is a difficultly with having all audio tracks on the same level…. it’s too easy to lose track of which grab is from which mic and it also creates issues when using the syncing feature…. by having all audio tracks on a seperate line I can throw a rough shot from another camera and trim it for length and ask it to slip sync and it’s done….
    Cheers for your input though!

    Thanks Terje,
I can’t explain how much of an annoyance that was. It will really change things for me… I don’t suppose there is any hidden methods of making a system run smoother and quicker with vegas?
    Cheers

    Hi Edward,
Thanks for the prompt reply. But the problem I have is with audio and not video. I have a 8 camera shoot that is already cut visually. There are two, sometimes three main tracks of audio. The cameras are setup inside a vehicle and it is necesary to cut from driver to passengers regularly.

Due to the nature of the program, it has hundreds of cuts per episode.

I have therefore created the quickest method of fading out one track and bringing up another I could think of incorporating a contour shuffle and a BCF2000. Using these devices I am able to spool to the end of a grab, create points on both tracks using a slight touch of the mixer, then moving to a halfway mark between the next dialogue grab raising and lowering the appropriate tracks giving me a nice cross fade from one to the next then back again. I’ve even placed some strips of gaffer at the top of the slider to make sure I don’t take the levels too high.

This is great but, it still takes more time that I think it should. Ideally I’d love to be able to ride just the levels for the host and when his hits the deck, the passenger audio (or track two) rises taking it’s place.

The end result is 2-3 tracks of audio with an envelopes fading out as others fade in, giving one final track.

    Any ideas?
