The Drastic Codecs work with or without Hardware Cards like the Aurora, AJA/Kona, DVS, OptiBase, VideoPump etc., the main difference is, that you can edit 8/10 Bit Encoded Videos in all YCbCR Color Spaces without any loss of quality. I use them all the time and compress to the final Format when all editing is done (MP4,MPEG etc.) to uphold the quality. The native “YUV” Codecs, that come with Windows play a YUY2 Video in RGB24, NOT YUY2 plus they are decode only (!) while the Drastic Codecs play that Color Space that was used for compression. Further, there are no Optimisations with the native Windows Codecs like MMX etc. any more but with the Drastic Codecs you have MMX,SSE and SSE2, it’s up to you what performs better 🙂
This Problem with “No Audio with v210 Codec” has nothing to do with the Drastic Codecs, that’s a Capturing or Transfer Problem. I recommend to check the Settings. All the Producers i know, that use the Drastic Codecs, never reported such a Problem, that’s including me too.
I know, this is a older Thread, but maybe thi Information is still helpfull to some Users.
