    I guess MJPEG isn’t as lossy as I thought. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Since the files have already been heavily compressed once and will be heavily compressed again when I render from Vegas, I’m wondering if it’s good to convert to a heavily compressed format to prepare for editing.

    I have vdub. I tried using it for this but it was going to take hours to do just one 30 minute video. I set both audio and video for Full Processing Mode. I tried a variety of codecs.

    Thank you for the links. It looks like it would be best to convert the divx files to an avi type that Vegas can handle.

    I did search prior to my initial post and did not find any relevant posts.

    I need to edit some divx files from an outside source. I only rendered to divx to see if Vegas could open a file that it had rendered.

    I don’t understand why a codec which is sufficient to render a divx file and also for playing in media players is not sufficent for Vegas to see the video.
