There is not a driver for our Black magic card Duallink HD Pro that works for 10.3.9. They suggest either 10.3.8 or going to Tiger. That is why we are stuck. Black Magic does not have a driver that supports 10.3.9.

    This sucks.

Okay never mind about 4.5 on Tiger. There are no drivers for our Black Magic card for FCP 4.5 and OS 10.4. So we are stuck without a working system. I will have to upgrade to FCP 5 in mid project. Can I do that? YIKES

  • We are having the same issue. There are so many problems with our system, that the techs we talk to say we should upgrade from FCP 4.5 to 5 in the middle our projects. Our system freezes and crashes constantly. This all started with a bad OS crash of 10.3.8. Had to rebuild the OS. Motion, I-Photo and Safari won’t work. Called apple care and they know all about the I-Photo issue and Safari issue but won’t deal with our Motion issue since we did not purchase apple care for the Production Suite. Argh.

Now our external drive, a 2.7 TB Huge array flips out and freezes. We have to send the one project at for approval and can’t even render the color correction. Huge’s answer is replace and switch the scuzzy cables. Been there done that.

Everyone says that we should upgrade to Tiger and FCP 5. We are really stuck. Not sure what to do, but do not have a working system today. One of our projects is Native HD the other is NTSC SD. I feel your pain.

Thanks guys. This Michelle the other part of our team.

We have reinstalled Motion a bunch of times, trashed the preferences and it still will not work. We also reinstalled quicktime.

Safari and I-Photo will not work either. This all started about a month ago when OSx 10.3.8 when to crap.

We tried to re-install OSX 10.3.5 from our install discs for the G5 and they would not work. We had to use a copy of Panther that we had for the other computers in the office and then did the upgrades off of apple.com to get to 10.3.8

I looked on the OSX message board and there seems to be a pattern here.

    Here is the pattern
10.3.8 freaks out and won’t work.
Try to intstall from the install discs that come with computer and they won’t work.
    Install OSX from other source.
Once back to 10.3.8 Safari and I-Photo and Motion won’t work.

We have apple care. We called and they knew right away about the Safari and I-Photo issue. They wouldn’t deal with the Motion issue since we don’t have apple care for our Production Suite Software which pissed me off since we believe that this a OSX problem not a Motion problem.

Still today, Motion does not work. We are using After Effects instead. In 8 years I have never had trouble with After Effects.
