Thanks, Sam.
Storage isn’t really an issue for us. We are connected to a 280tb NAS. We are mainly concerned with performance in edit, using Adobe CC, along with encoding. While 4k is not a consideration now, I’m assuming it will be within a year of so.

Interesting that you did not receive any replies to this. I’m in a similar situation. my client has four 2010 mac pro towers and we are looking to upgrade to either maxed out imacs or trashcan macpros and I’m trying to see what solution people are using for a breakout box of some kind to externally monitor video and audio.
I would be curious to know if you have solved your issue to your liking.
thanks,
Mike

Thanks, John and Andy.
Looks like I”m going to purchase the GeForce 680 since it gets solid reviews, is a reasonable price and seems to do exactly what I need.
I appreciate it!

Interesting. I think I will try your approach with prelude on my next project with the Canon xf files.
Thanks, Frank.

Interesting, Frank.
pardon my ignorance of the format, but if we delete all of those files (which I always assumed were for metadata) to make it work correctly, then why are they created in the first place?
thanks for the info.

yes, I tried that and it didn’t help. perhaps I will go back to my old process of transcoding pre-edit in the future.

I think this is my way forward. I just brought all of the spanned clips into prelude and it seems that they have the correct timecode. So now I should be able to replace those sections in my original project and move forward from there.
Still not sure what happened, but at least I can move on with the project from here.
thanks for all your help.

I’m curious about a possible workaround. I’ve never used Prelude before, but if I was able to ingest the spanned clips into Prelude with the correct timecode, how would I move those new versions of the clips from Prelude to Premiere?
thanks again,

Thanks, Tim.
I have the media files in their original folder structure from the CF cards that we recorded to. I moved them to my external RAID in a Capture Scratch folder where I keep all my video footage for all projects. I have a subfolder for the project and the Canon folders are in there with a folder for each of 3 cards.
I have not changed any of my preferences within CC from CS6. I just wen through the preferences pane within premiere and there are some funky boxes that can be checked in the “media” section and I’m not sure if any of those would make a difference.
