This is why I frequent the Cow. Fixed in a jiffy. Much thanks.

…later….got it fixed, albeit by accident. I tried ‘auto configure’ earlier with no results. After trying several deck configure combinations I figured “what the heck” and tried ‘auto configure’ once more. Ta-dah! For some reason it worked this time. Regained deck control. Here’s a weird part- even though the DV desk is a Panasonic AJ-455, the auto configure function called it a Sony BVW-75, on COM1. The other box now reads ‘direct on No Port. Go figure. Well, it’s working. For now. And thanks for the input.
I’m gonna write this down….

One of my problems is that it’s not my system (I’m a freelancer)and there there is a lot of routing and switching going on between the computer, the Panasonic deck, an SVHS deck, and a DVD recorder, all connected via firewire at some point. And power cycling the MOJO, along with everything else, is the first thing I tried. I can’t help thinking it’s in the deck configuration somewhere. The system has been working fine for quite some time. Something happened overnight to create difficulties with the panasonic deck. No new software or hardware installed recently, by the way….

That did work, although it took longer than expected. Turns out there was a corrupt file lurking in the darkness. Had to do the move files in and out of the OMFI folder to find out which file was corrupt dance. After that was cleaned up the MSM files finally rebuilt and all was well with the world……for now. thanks again….

I will mention it (again). It’s not my system- I am a freelancer. (I have 8G on my own system, albeit a mac) The last time I asked for more RAM, I was told Windows XP uses a maximum of 2 Gigs.

Thanks for the quick response. I do the same thing with uncompressed quicktime animatics in fcp or avid and sync to them. I thought after all these years I should learn another method. That being said, I am sorry to report the period trick did not work. From the ‘text’ part of the keyboard, nothing happens. From the numerical keypad it crashes AE. After 5 crashes in a row, I returned to my animatic, to continue this another day. Deadline approaching……
