Once you save to the SxS card you are in 8 bit. The 10 bit is gone and it wont come back when you play the SxS cards from the camera.

Set your shutter to 1/48. I think the other responder is right and with shutter OFF it matches the frame rate which is too slow. BUT…… if you read the SONY Shooting Tips #2 (the head and shoulders of the girl) Sony says to set the shutter OFF. I don’t know why Sony says this.

This is all true and one reason why most pros are saying just forget AF. The z1 auto focus buton was great but the EX1 is poor. The good news is that as I said before, except for tracking, you don’t need AF with this camera. You have a good LCD, expanded focus, peaking and a fine firm real moving lens.

I’ll check later today. For now look at your macro settings.

Sounds like that is the focus assist. Don’t use it. Keep that focus ring pulled back and use it right. AF and FA is not good on the EX1. You have peaking, expanded focus and a great viewfinder – you don’t need anything else. One exception: If following moving object that is BIG and cover all of center screen then OK.

I’ve been all through this since my FX1. The bottom line is the EX1 needs a matte box to hold the polarizer and additional ND filters and graduated filters.
