Zaxwerks would do everything you’re asking, but you’d have to pay for that plugin.

Check out Example 3 in that tutorial. It helped me do something similar to your situation. It uses Particular, and that’s what I used, so I’m not sure if Particle World or any of the other particle systems would work exactly the same way. I’m sure the tutorial will help you though in some fashion.

Create a null object, parent your image to the null, then move the null object whenever you want to move the entire image and all of its properties.

That’s pretty crazy. And the animation that all that stuff ends up as is pretty awesome to say the least.

Sorry to say, but you’ll have to roto out the arms as they pass in front. And you can do motion tracking, but you’ll have to manually adjust the points when something gets in the way of the track. It’ll be a lot of work, but it can be done with a lot of time and patience. Of course there’s better tracking programs out there, but for just using AE, that’s the only advice I can give.

I’m also having the same permission type problems as others.

Right click on the footage in the Project Window. Click Interpret Footage. At the bottom, under Other Options, it’ll say “Loop _ Times.” By default it’s set to 1. But just increase that number however many times you want it to loop.
