That works – If you import the AAF files into the bin, they relink automatically and you don’t have to go looking for your clips in the MediaTool.
Merging an ALE is done by hilighting all the clips from that batch process, selet file->import, go to options and check “merge based on known sources” and then select ALE.

OK – I haven’t tested many files out of 3CP, but I believe it is using Avid AMT to create the AAF and MXF wrapped native DNxHD. With that being the case, as mentioned, import the AAF first, then merge the ALE into the masterclips.

Import AAF first, then merge ALE into the newly created master clips. ALE only as a relink is an additional relink process, and does not work well for audio if there is sync audio with clips. What are you using that is making MXF, ALE and AAF from ProRes?

If you don’t need their record side position, you may want to try a decompose of the audio tracks with 0 handles. The process takes fades and dissolves into consideration and only will make one clip, even if used several times. Sort results and export as TAB.
If you need record position as well, FilmScribe exports pull, scene pull and such as XML – you can look to that as the master file, but would need to parse the XML into something you can use.

Actually the conform has come a long ways with DS with many effects, layers and nests as well as text from the title tool. If the same plug-in are on the system, then they will work as well (depending on version and all). I know that Autodesk has been doing a lot of work in the area of conform as well, but probably not at the same level as a DS…. yet.
I would look to OS preference, price, and how much development is being committed to each over the last few versions and how frequently they are updated.

Unfortunately you cannot – the entire raster gets scaled to HD and then the aspect ratio gets applied within that. The ability to do this has been a request since R3D AMA was first implemented (as well as any format greater than HD).

I may have… I think I remember know. Mixdowns are their own little islands… You could try some level 2 workaround stuff, like exporting those mixdowns as QT reference, bring it back in as though they were new sources, make an ALE and merge into that… then it would behave like a newly created master clip. But I would need to test my theory to be sure, but should work.
