Just noticed the S-Log portion of the thread, My bad. I haven’t seen any Sony support for creating your own S-log LUTs. There is a Sony software program (CVP File Editor) but I haven’t heard it is updated for the F3.

Having some card with footage from a properly exposed shoot won’t help you expose your next shoot properly, you need to learn how to trust your judgment of exposure from using all the tools available on the camera like Zebras and Histogram and even the Auto Exposure feature on the lens, and also those from professional accessories like a professional field monitor with a Vector scope and Wave form monitor or even False Color that can help you learn to expose correctly. If you have Adobe OnLocation you may want to explore it.

I would try setting your zebras to 95 and make this the ceiling for the highs manually setting the exposure, then try zooming into just the face of the person or subject you’re shooting on camera and use the auto exposure feature to see what it would set the exposure for, then zoom back out matching the manual expose framing and see how much the exposure has changed from the manual 95% zebra exposure. I’ll bet you’ll find this comparison to help expose properly. It is a basic way to use your camera as a light meter.I have made my fair share of mistakes but I remember what an older DP said to me, “Everyday is a test”.

Thanks for the thanks, just remember to rename that file, I did this many years ago and it worked then, I just hope it still does after all the firmware upgrades. I don’t have my EX1 anymore for I don’t know for sure, but I think it still works. Let us know if it works.

You can match them, you will need to make a picture profile with the EX3 and then save it to the SxS card, then copy it to your computer, the folder will be “Sony” then open all the folders until you find the EX3 folder, then rename it to EX1 and copy it back the an SxS card and recall it to the EX1 camera.

The Nano Flash only records to Compact Flash cards. I have a few Photo Fast G-Monster 533x cards for higher bite rate project. Not sure if there if ever be an SD card that will write fast enough for 220 Mbps.

If you’re going to use some software to interpolate or recreate more frames than you can record from the camera then yes a higher bite rate during acquisition would IMHO be best. Just know you will need CF media that is rated to record 220Mbps. Please let us know how it turns out as this is an area I haven’t had much experience in. I have Twixtor for FCP but never really mastered it.

Mpeg-2 can imploy either Intra-frame or Inter-frame compression types @100 Mbps, anything below this bite rate is inter-frame or Long GOP.
I-frame or Intra-Frame retains all the information needed to recall or reproduce that one frame, Inter-frame relies on looking at frame information both forward and inverse of a given frame to reproduce it.Good Luck
