July 12, 2005 at 2:03 pm in reply to: Best Quality for Video & Audio in Vegas6: What Properties?Well that makes much more sense (the fact that Vegas can improve audio)! Thanks for the help.
I also have another question about rendering the avi video as an MPEG-2 (DVD Architect NTSC Video Stream Template). I was reading the MainConcept MPEG-2 Plug-in help from the Sony website and it said that for NTSC DVD’s you should check the box next to “Write sequence display extension”. However, the default for the Template that I am using leaves it unchecked. What’s better?
Thanks again for the help,

I made a mistake in my first post becuase I realize now you can’t even make a two hour DVD (without changing the bit-rate) in DVD Architect 1.0. However, it still is true that DVDA3 makes the files bigger. I am trying out all of the suggestions. Again, thanks for the help.

Okay, thanks. Its unfortunate that in order for Sony to add additional features it comprimises the amount that can fit in the project. Maybe they will fix this in the future. I will just create more than one DVD. I think that decreasing the bit-rate will worsen the quality of the DVD, so I don’t really want to go that route. If this is not true, please tell me. Thanks for the help,

That is good to know. Now I know that the media should (emphasizing should) not end up on the DVD for it is not there, and I have found a bug in the software (DVD Architect 1.0) and it just carried over to DVD Architect 3. However, it is a bug and I would expect anything. That is why I have two more questions.
I have found a way to, hopefully, completely solve this issue. What I have done is replaced the seemingly non-existent offline media with online media. (I did some tests, that I do not need to get into, that made me certain there is no way to get rid of this problem by deleting the media from the project.) Even though I replaced the offline media with online media, I still could not find the, now online, media. I made it online so that, I can make a DVD without any errors. I will prepare the DVD first. Immediatly after I prepare the DVD I will look in the folder it was prepared into.
Here is the question: If I find this media that should not exist in the project (but does because of a bug in the software) can I just delete the .VOB file from the folder? Would this affect the burning of the DVD if I deleted this media from the prepared folder? There is no link or connection to this particular media in the project and it doesn’t effect anything (It’s just there).
I know the situation is difficult to understand, becuase the problem I am having shouldn’t be occuring. However, the situation (I don’t believe) is important to answering and understanding the questions I asked.
Thanks for the help,

I see two possible reasons for this:
1–It is possible that you did not “Prepare” the project before you selected “Burn”. Preparing the project creates a folder and files. When you choose to burn the DVD, DVD Architect looks to these files (VIDEO TS and AUDIO TS folders with video and audio files) to burn the DVD.
2–If you already Prepared the project, it is possible that the folder you are directing DVD Architect to look at is not where the prepared files are located. Immediately after you click “Make DVD” and “Burn” you must click “Browse” and choose the correct “Prepared folder”, which contains the VIDEO TS and AUDIO TS folders for your project. It might be called something like “My DVD” unless you changed the name to something else. If you did Prepare the project, but do not remember, or do not know where the files were prepared too, look under the “Burning” tab located in “Prefrences” under “Options”. The Default prepare folder is listed. If that is not the folder, you can search your computer for folders with the names “VIDEO_TS” and “AUDIO_TS”.
I hope this helps,
